We had the good fortune of connecting with Mary Beth Osburn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mary Beth, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I started my small business right before the pandemic in 2019.. After having tons of different jobs over my work career, I wanted something more meaningful for myself. I was tired of working 9-5 jobs that left me feeling empty at the end of the day. At that point, I had been tie-dyeing on and off for a few years and really started enjoying my craft and excelling pretty quickly at it. I had started getting recognition on social media and from friends and family and I thought I should start selling my dyes online. So that’s what I did, I just jumped right on in the deep end. I created a website and started posting like crazy on social media. It really took off during the pandemic and especially during the lock down. With people being at home and on their phones and wanting to support small businesses at that time. My small tie dye business really started to grow and I was able to focus a career out of it and work for myself.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Marybgoround Tie Dyes. I hand tie and dye, fun festival style garments. I describe my style as “new age” tie dye. I do rainbow to earthy geode inspired designs. The garments I dye are perfect for festivals and concerts. I use a Ice Dyeing method which is different from the typical liquid tie dyeing that most people are used to seeing. I also use snow in the winter months to dye with. I live in Alma. Co and have tons of access to the finest snow all winter long. I also, have a 1964 Vintage Camper that I use as a mobile boutique all over the state of Colorado.

I am most proud of being a featured artist at Love on Haight a store in San Francisco in the Haight District that features some of the best tie dyers in the world. I am also super proud that members of the String Cheese Incident have worn my art on stage at their live shows.

I got to where I am professionally with the support of my family, friends, and social media. It hasn’t been easy but it hasn’t been that hard either. I have so much passion for what I do and that has been me driving force. I love what I do so it makes working fun!

Lessons I have learned along the way is…If you want something in life you just have to go for it. Manifest the things you want in life and they will come to fruition with hard work and confidence.

My Motto: “Making the World a Brighter Place”

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Alma, CO The hightest town in North America. I would take them hiking at Kite Lake, Drinks and pizza at the South Park Saloon in Alma, Ottos Food Cart in Alma. Definitely a trip to Mt. Pricnceton Hot Springs, Catch a live concert at Redrocks and make a stop Over Yonder Brewery in Golden, CO on the way!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
