We had the good fortune of connecting with Matthew & Mikki Hostert and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Matthew & Mikki, how do you think about risk?
Risks need to be taken in order to reach goals you are striving for. Do not get complacent. Complacency will keep you in your comfort zone. If you are too afraid of leaving your comfort zone you will never see what you are fully capable of. In life you may fail but don’t stay down. Never stay down. Learn from it and move on. Keep striving and hustling. Also, keep a positive mindset. If you put positive vibes out into the universe you will reap positive reward. If you only see the negative then you cannot prosper. Never give up.

What should our readers know about your business?
We are owners, operators, and employees of our landscaping business ‘The Yard Father LLC’, and our board & batten accent walls business ‘Hosterts Elegant Design’. Matthew is also a bounty hunter and owns ‘Blue Line Pack Fugitive Apprehension ‘. He is also a influencer for 5% nutrition. Mikki is a licensed Real estate agent in the State of Colorado as well.

We both love the gym and really enjoy working with others when it comes to being more healthy or helping them in the gym. We have a passion for helping others so when it comes to motivating someone or just giving pointers where we can we definitely will. And yes, those certifications for becoming certified trainers are in the works as well.

Matthew has been doing landscaping, building, and construction pretty much his entire life. He grew up doing this type of stuff so it came naturally and he truly has an amazing eye for design. Mikki is a United States Navy Veteran and had to medically retire from law enforcement after serving for over 7 years. It was a challenge trying to find a new path after retiring from law enforcement but we buckled down and looked at things as a chance to begin anew and launch the business in landscaping. This allowed for us to work together and build together. That took off and is doing well. Our first winter was the most challenging. We discovered the hard way that no one really gets any landscaping work done in the winter. This led us to begin our accent wall company to try and find work that we can do inside and that people would still be interested in even in the winter months. Some lessons we learned along the way is always prepare for a rainy day but keep a positive mindset. Be open to new things and don’t be afraid to take chances. We would like everyone to know that we are go getters, honest, fair, down to earth, reasonable, and absolutely love what we do. We enjoy meeting people and seeing how we can brighten their lives whether it’s by landscaping or designing a new accent wall in their home.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We really enjoy the small town vibe and atmosphere and prefer to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the city and the traffic. Gabe’s Cafe in Frederick, Co., E.L.F.’s grill on hwy 52 in Dacono, Bash’s Pizza in Frederick or Mead Pizza Plus in Mead for a pizza night, Goodfellas Diner in Longmont is also a nice place with a good vibe. We enjoy taking drives and checking out new restaurants along our way. Laser tag is always fun so anywhere there is laser tag we’re in. We don’t drink so not big into the nightlife. We are big on family oriented activities so always down to take a spontaneous drive into the mountains and see where we end up lol. Also it depends on the time of year depending on festivities that may be occurring in the surrounding areas. Also, we love the gym so we’ll probably end up there at some point lol.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Our family! We work together in every endeavor. We truly are a team. We work together, hustle together, fight together. Side by side. Our kiddos are our why. We do it not only for ourselves, but for our family. Our kiddos are happy and love to join in when they can. We help each other and want nothing but the best for one another. The kiddos see how hard we work and in turn learn that lesson of being go getters and never settling. If you can dream it, you can achieve it.
