We had the good fortune of connecting with Maxwell Marcum and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maxwell, what do you attribute your success to?
Consistently prioritizing our relationships with our clients has helped us develop a genuine connection with our customer’s goals. We’ve always made a point to try and establish a connection with our clients well in advance of them actually needing or requesting our services. It’s proved to be very helpful for us (and our clients) when we’ve laid the framework for who we are and how we operate, which makes future cohesive decision-making processes much more fluid during any commercial real estate transaction.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Marcum Commercial Advisors (MCA) was founded in the peak of the financial and housing crisis in 2008 in an effort to develop a more ethical and comfortable environment for people transacting within the commercial real estate environment. We’re a full-service commercial real estate brokerage firm based in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. We currently have three brokers including myself, Scott Marcum (my father), and Tanner Digby., and we specialize in acquisitions, dispositions, and leasing of industrial, office, retail, land, development, and medical properties across the Denver Metropolitan area. Our business was orignally founded by my father, who had previously worked in the corporate communications world for over a decade. He attributes his love for sales and working with a wide array of custromers as his motivation for moving in the the CRE industry. Since then, our goal has been to focus on intensely developing our skills and services as a company. To this day, MCA has completed over $100 million in total leasing and sales transactions, and is expecting to more than double that over the next 5 years. Since we’ve started the company, we’ve learned to prioritize our client’s wants and goals above all else. We pride ourselves on longstanding relationships that we’ve built that have grown outside of our business. Ultimately, we’re confident that we can provide next-level personal service while being able to provide resources nationally in a way that allowes our clients to take advantage of every opportunity that may be available.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’ve always had a love for the mountains. I was raised in Arvada, CO and always had the mountains at my disposal growing up. Now, I always enjoy going to Vail or Beaver Creek when time allows. Typically, I’d suggest staying in downtown Vail if possible. For breakfast, I always try to stay in and whip something up myself before going into town. Then, I’d go grab lunch at Loaded Joe’s before heading down to the shops by the river to sit down and eat. As always, I’d recommend going for a hike, mountain biking, or taking the gondola up to check out the scenery. Later in the day, I’d get dinner at Mountain Standard and order whatever steak special they have available. Regardless, any days spent in almost any mountain town in CO is a win in my book.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife and parents have helped me through a multitude of times when I felt discouraged, incappable of success, confused, and lost. I owe everything I have today, and everything I will have, to the God I serve, and a family that’s loved me so unconditionally.
