We had the good fortune of connecting with Maya Erickson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maya, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Growing up and being able to watch my parents who started their business from the ground up is the sole reason why i knew i wanted to start my own. i was so grateful to have role models that put their all into their business and still be able to make time for my brother and i is something i knew i needed in this life. i knew i wanted to do something that not only will let me provide for my family but also allows me to provide for others. being able to make people feel empowered by the way they look and feel is truly beautiful. being a hairstylist is so rewarding. i wouldn’t change a single thing. i am so grateful for my clients – who are the sole reason why i have my business and am able to do what i love every day.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I really want everyone to know that i cherish every moment i get to spend with my clients. i put my everything into my craft and am always evolving. i never want to stop learning and expanding my knowledge in all things hair. i struggled a lot with anxiety in my past and i once had a hairstylist that made me feel loved and cared for when i sat in his chair – i strive to be that for anyone who chooses to spend their time with me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am born and raised here in glenwood springs, colorado. so you could say i’m a glenwood native! my favorite spots would have to be, the glenwood springs hot springs. for obvious reasons – who doesn’t love swimming! Taqueria El Nopal or Za Pizza are my absolute favorite places to eat. i love getting a pizza and driving up somewhere in the mountains with blankets and eating in my trunk. who doesn’t love a good pizza and amazing views!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to give a special shoutout to my parents. my mom and dad have lived here since the late 80’s. they started Erickson Home Services & Management to serve the valley in 1995. getting close to 30 years in business! i am so blessed to have outstanding parents to look up to and to have there continuous love and support. they are the ones who deserve recognition for all that they do!
