Meet MDawwg (Matt Miedich) | Hip hop Recording artist & producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with MDawwg (Matt Miedich) and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi MDawwg, what inspires you?
I’m inspired by everyone who pursues a passion, works hard , and stays dedicated on being the best at whatever it is they do. I’m inspired to see others do what they love, and have the courage to showcase their art, creative careers have a TON of ups and downs and to stick with that truely inspires me to do what I do.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a rap/hip hop artist, beatmaker, producer , and live performer. I started making music at 14 after hearing rap for the first time and instantly fell in love with it and didn’t look back. It wasn’t until 2017 that I built the courage to showcase my craft. I started out with open mic nights around Colorado Springs, and would eventually work my way into doing shows at venues, opening for the national touring acts , and this year I took part in my first tour outside of Colorado which im incredibly proud of. I’m also planning to go on another tour during the summer time and I couldn’t be more excited to share my art and creativity with people in other communities besides my own. I struggle with anxiety and depression , I’m also diagnosed with aspergers and I find that rap helps calm me down in the worst situations. everything from rhythm , to beats , to the message of what a person is saying I love. I’ve found that Not only can I use music as a positive outlet for myself , but I’ve also come to realize that I can take all of my pain , sadness , anger , and frustration and put it into something that ultimately helps my own mental health. With music I can take all the negativity that goes on in my life and turn it into a positive, while being creative , and expressing myself with full and 100% honesty. there’s been a lot of highs and lows , but nonetheless music brings me serenity and succeed or fail music will be an essential part of my life , progression , and therapy to my own mental health for the rest of my days. I would like everyone to know it’s okay to be yourself , never be afraid to share your thoughts or creativity with others in fear of being judged. Also, if you use a creative outlet of ANY kind , SHARE IT! You never know , what you may share today may give someone else the courage to share Tommorow!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
there’s so many things I have in mind but my first thought is taking them to Garden of the Gods, Helen Hunt falls, graffiti falls , going up old stage road or Palmer park. You just Can’t go to Colorado and NOT enjoy some of the beautiful nature we have here , right ?! My second thought is going d Colorado Springs, and manitou springs as well and checking out everything that goes on out there , we have a very creative community that I’m happy to have called home for the last 11 years of my life. Food and drink wise my go to choice is always Mother Muffs in downtown old Colorado city. I’d also take my friends out to the local shows and bars we have out here as well as some of the venues here too , always a good time that never dissapoints in my opinion.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There’s so many people I’d like to give a shoutout too.
First and foremost my family for their unconditional love and support.
My friends, fans , and supporters get a huge shoutout for keeping me positive for my future endeavors.
I’d personally like to Shoutout every musician/artist I know Or have met in the Last 4 years of being professional musician , but that list is quite long, so I’ll try to keep it simple.
Shoutout to Beastmode of Vi D.O. & Trillitary entertainment and also Shoutout to Jolka of Vi D.O. Entertainment & Jolka lab. I met them in 2017 (around when I started doing my live performances in Colorado.) and they put me on their shows, signed me to join Jolka’s former label Laughing Like A Lunatic ent. and introduced me into the local music scene. We actually just went on tour together here this past summer. Since then I haven’t looked back, I love what I do and I couldn’t thank y’all enough for giving me an opportunity to showcase what helps me cope and express myself in the best way I know how. Also shoutout to D&J’s Lisa Marie for helping me record my music and photography, CbTooLit of ICU visuals for my music videos , beats and photos , Drew Miller of In Tents Images for photos. And Jahsue of Reinvented music for beats as well.
Shoutout to all the local artists , producers , promoters and photographers I’ve worked with as well. It’s been a real pleasure to collaborate with all of them , and to see the growth of our community together. I got a list a mile long and a life time of gratitude to show towards anyone who has ever supported me in any way shape or form.
