Meet Megan Bortner | Founder & Digital Marketing Strategist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Bortner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Megan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Labyrinth Digital was born from a mix of experience, purpose, and a desire to do things differently. I had spent 10 years in corporate America, where I learned a ton of best practices and best-in-class methodologies. That experience gave me a solid foundation, but over time, I started to feel disconnected from the work. I wanted to actually feel the impact of what I was doing and have a more direct relationship with the people behind the brands.
That’s what drew me to small and medium-sized businesses. I loved the idea of working closely with passionate founders and teams, helping them grow in meaningful, measurable ways. At the same time, I saw a major lack of women-led agencies and wanted to be part of changing that narrative. I started Labyrinth Digital to create an agency that was not only strategic and data-driven, but also collaborative, human, and values-driven—an agency where both our clients and our team could thrive.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Labyrinth Digital is a women-led digital marketing agency that was founded in 2017. We partner with scaling outdoor, wellness, and lifestyle brands to help them grow through strategic, data-driven marketing. Our core services include performance email, paid media, and content strategy—and we’re all about helping brands connect with the right audiences in ways that feel authentic, measurable, and sustainable.
What makes Labyrinth unique is our mix of deep marketing expertise and a hands-on approach. We combine strategic planning, process development, and advanced analytics to deliver impactful, tailored solutions for scaling brands. We’re highly data-driven—with a dedicated data scientist on our team—and we build customized strategies based on each client’s unique goals, audience, and challenges. No one-size-fits-all solutions—just thoughtful, results-focused marketing.
I’m especially proud that we’ve built this business intentionally. From the very beginning, we’ve focused on doing great work, building strong relationships, and growing sustainably. It hasn’t always been easy—we’ve navigated our share of challenges, like refining our niche, evolving our offerings, and managing the rollercoaster of agency life—but we’ve done it all by staying grounded in our values.
At the end of the day, I want the world to know that Labyrinth Digital isn’t just another agency. We’re strategic and analytical and creative. We’re here to help brands grow in ways that are smart, intentional, and sustainable

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I absolutely love Colorado. I moved here from Chicago in 2014 because I wanted to be close to the city and the mountains. During the week, you’ll find me biking along the bike paths and attending run club. On the weekends, I’m either snowboarding in the winter or hiking the mountains in the summer. It’s the perfect balance of outdoor adventure and city life.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I love this question because no one gets anywhere alone. If I had to dedicate my shoutout to anyone, it would be to my co-founder, Roni Chen. Labyrinth Digital wouldn’t exist without her. Roni is one of the smartest people I know—sharp, strategic, and incredibly process-driven. She built so many of the systems and structures that still power our work today, and she did it in a way that makes things fun.
I also want to recognize the Labyrinth Digital Team. Labyrinth wouldn’t be what it is without the people behind it. They bring so much experience, heart, and hustle. Watching them grow and support each other and our clients is one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.
