We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Grabau and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Megan, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking is truly a part of any successful career, whether that be to a large or small degree. Without challenging yourself to take risks, one can truly never know their full potential. I have always had the mentality to approach life and my career fearlessly because that is the way we grow. We grow when we are uncomfortable, we grow when we fail, and we grow when we allow ourselves to dare to be bold. It is scary to take risks, but I am more afraid of living fearful because in my opinion, that is not living at all. We are called to be bold and confident. Without taking risks, I would not have my company MEG Productions and I would most certainly not be where I am today. When one directs their life according to fear, one falls into complacency and comfortability. In my opinion, that is a boring and not really living at all. I would rather try with 100 percent of my heart and fail than watch from the sidelines. Like Arianna Huffington has said, “Fearlessness is not the absence of fear. It is the mastery of fear. It’s about getting up one more time than we fall down.”

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a dancer, choreographer, and creative director. For those that don’t know me, I own MEG Productions which encompasses all these different aspects. I love that my profession is my passion and I get to connect with people of all ages through a shared love of movement. I have been in music videos, TV shows, movies, and choreographed and directed a lot of cool events and performances, but I have to say that what I am most proud of is how I have gotten the privilege to help others step into their greatness. The most rewarding part of working with other artists, is seeing their confidence grow and seeing them believe that their light can not only shine, but the world is a better place when it shines. I truly believe that every person has a unique voice that makes the world a better place with a divine purpose. Through my company, I am not just teaching steps and dance moves, but my ultimate goal is to help others see their brilliance and radiate who they are without looking outward for approval in an industry that is full of “no’s” and very frugal on “yes’s.”

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love Denver and Boulder. There are so many amazing places to eat, hang out outdoors, and work out. Some of my favorite restaurants include True Foods, Flower Child, Avanti, and Farm and Market. My favorite places to hike are different trails in Rocky Mountain National Park. I love hanging out outside and going for walks at parks such as Wash Park and around Sloan’s Lake. A new spot that I am quite literally obsessed with is Portal Thermaculture. This spot in Boulder is a social club that has cold plunges and fire wood burning saunas. I have not only found it to be insanely relaxing but the quickest way for my body to recover.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am so thankful for so many people and supporters in my life. I want to dedicate this article to my parents. They are some of the greatest people I know and I hope to one day support and inspire my children like they have done for me.
