We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Schukei and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Megan, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am from small town Nebraska and it is also where I live today on a family farm with my husband Sam! I think my overall background had a big impact for how run my business and what I am inspired by. I personally was always taught to work hard and go above and beyond for people and that really has shaped who I am. I also loved being outside growing up and now I get to work in the most beautiful places to that’s really neat!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I specialize in elopements and small weddings in nature! I started out my photography career doing seniors and big weddings and realized that I love more intimate and meaningful celebrations!

Something cool is that I book couples from all over the world to get married in the most beautiful places in nature. Not only am I a photographer for my couples but I also help them plan (permits, vendor recommendations, timeline building, and so much more.) I strive to make each day unique for my couples.

When is comes to my art work I always want to give couples emotional photos that feel like art and aren’t cookie cutter.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For example Rocky Mountain National Park

I would take them up early to Marmot Point to see the wildlife and the sun rise over the mountains, next would have a breakfast picnic at Hidden Valley and listen to the stream. Then would do some hiking in the park and head back to Estes for the night. I love casual food and would take them to get a Gyro & fries at Boss Burgers and Gyros, and then end the night getting a sweet treat at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would say my husband Sam. He always been super supportive of my non traditional career and always my number 1 cheerleader in my success!
