We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Mann & William Holdeman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Megan & William, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Phone Assured:

Your smartphone is a very valuable asset. These days our cell phones hold almost everything we need to keep our lives running smoothly and on track. All our contact information for friends, family, and business connections live inside our phones as well; anything from banking info to receipts, passwords, photos, and access to much more is kept securely in these handheld devices
Phone Assured is a retractable smartphone safety leash that prevents drops, loss, and theft! People can spend more time doing what they love, and less time worrying about what could happen if they damaged or lost their phone.

Over nearly 80 years, Harvard study has been showing how to live a healthy and happy life

We connect people, build relationships & create memories. Bringing people together for a social experience builds community. We are excited that we have received feedback from mothers/fathers attending with sons/daughters, people have proposed to their future husband/wife at our events or have found their future significant other. For us, life is about connection and beautiful memories, we create the social scenery to support this mission.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
William:

Serial entrepreneur after my father lost several jobs growing up despite having great performance and reviews. I wanted to be in control of my own destiny. Instead of working in NYC at a bank, I helped start a Private Equity firm in India building infrastructure (roads, cell phone towers and hand pumps for those without), instead of pushing paper for the wealthy right out of college. I feel that my purpose for business should always have a purpose, not just making money. How are we solving a problem, making the world a better place? I cannot claim to cure cancer, but I know we make people’s lives better with the events we produce (bringing people together) and give people peace of mind (and saving money) while being on the go with our Phone Assured by Securisee smartphone safety leash. I have started 13 businesses in my life, most failing, but every opportunity is a chance to learn, grow, level up and get back out there. Many of what I failed to do in my 20s was because I didn’t read about simple strategies and ask for help; it takes a village. Most of my opportunities now are successful, though never easy and I always attribute that to the training with my team, passionate teammates and having a “why” to give a reason to get up each morning and create.

Megan:

As the daughter of serial entrepreneur parents, hard work, determination, and the importance of identifying opportunities was always instilled in me from a young age. In addition, they also encouraged education and its benefits to match the fire and drive for success I had inside. I believe my mixture of education (Bachelors in Criminal Justice and Master in Business) paired with real work experiences in the digital marketing world with ClickBank (was there for 11-years), was my secret sauce to finding the confidence to go out on my own and identify the right partners to build brands and businesses with. I believe the best businesses start with a creator and an implementer, so identifying a partner who brings different strengths than you do to the table is key!
Phone Assured was created based on a need William had after experiencing his phone being stolen and lost on a few occasions. His idea for a product that solved a problem many of us face daily matched with my ability to implement and utilize my experience from my past career, gave us the best advantage to create Phone Assured.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
William:

Which city? Denver?

My favorite city in the world is Barcelona but for Denver you need to be active to get around to the different restaurants, bars, biking along the canal/river and going on hikes/camping trips just outside the city. The best times are enjoyed with good people no matter what you do. I love to bike over Uber to see more and take in all the many things that make a city unique from the architecture, neighborhood dynamics and avoiding a dad bod at the age of 35!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
William:

Shoutout to friends, family and my father. My father has always supported me to know I was capable to learn, grow and power through life’s challenges. Without his constant support, life lessons and tips from friends & family, I would have never gotten to where I am today with the confidence to succeed. Also, the EGO, shedding the ego and admitting your faults can be life lessons to grow from and not hide from the fact you fall short, only so you can later succeed, I like to say “the “game” is not over until you stop playing” & “I am so grateful to still have a seat at the table after so many years.”

Megan:

I am so grateful for the support, wisdom, guidance, and love my family, friends, mentors, and colleagues have shared with me throughout the years. I wouldn’t be the woman and business owner I am today without their constant support through the ups and downs we all experience in this life.
