We had the good fortune of connecting with Meghan Clarisse Cave and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Meghan Clarisse, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve always played music and written songs and it was a goal of mine to someday record so of them. I finally did that and put a phenomenal band together. It wasn’t ever a question of if I would do it but just a question of when.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I don’t play music full time. I have almost 20 years in with the State of Colorado (16 of those with the Colorado Department of Higher Education). I always wanted to pursue music but couldn’t see a clear path to it. A breast cancer diagnosis in 2017 changed a lot about how I approach life and I decided it was now or never! I was already playing in a cover band and playing a lot of open mics but suddenly realizing through my diagnosis that we don’t have an infinite amount of time here, I really felt compelled to record my own songs and get my own band together.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love Golden, Colorado. If I had a friend visiting I’d take them there to hike, walk along Clear Creek. We’d have to have dinner at my favorite restaurant, The Sherpa House and then we’d stop in my favorite store, Silver Horse. Ice cream to follow!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have two music mentors – Joe Oeser and Steve Jourdan. They are both in my band and both play in my album. They have become like family to me. They are much more experienced with recording, touring, booking, etc and always happy to help me grow. They truly have been gifts to me personally as well as to my music career. I also have to give a shout-out to my brother Josh who (willing or unwillingly) would sing with me or listen to me sing all throughout our childhood and he stills makes it out to my shows.
