We had the good fortune of connecting with Meleah Manning and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Meleah, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risks requires courage. I consider being an entrepreneur a very courageous path. There is no previously done step-by-step path to follow in the way I’ve chosen to live my life and build my business. For many people, they are terrified of the unknown. I think that’s very common as humans – to want to know what’s next, to what to know what the future holds. In the path I’ve chosen, that isn’t an option. So it requires courage, trust and the ability to open to the unknown. There is so much risk in that and of course, it would be “safer” to choose the road that has a clear path forward. My ability to take risks is a huge factor is the success I’ve experienced in entrepreneurship as well as my overall fulfillment in life.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I founded my coaching company in 2017 after selling all of my belongings and moving to the jungle of Costa Rica. Society’s expectations of climbing the corporate ladder wasn’t for me. I’ve never been one to fit into anyone’s box or fall in line with expectations. I’ve always had the ability to see a bigger vision.
Today, I am a trauma-informed dating and relationship coach. I support ambitious, independent woman overcome their relationship patterns so that they can attract an emotionally available, committed partner.
One of the reasons I was inspired to pursue this work was because of my personal experience in relationship – having gotten married and divorced at a very young age, experiencing lasting trauma from that abusive relationship, then struggling in a loop of unhealthy relationships. After I experienced healing and an impactful method to overcome relationship patterns, I found a deep passion to share that process with other women.
Each time I witness a client come to a place of what feels like “coming home to herself” or when she connects with an incredible partner and for the first time in her life, realizing that fulfilling love is possible for her – this is my “why”. This is why I continue to choose the unknown path of entrepreneurship.
Building and sustaining a business has not been easy. I like to relate to it as a spiritual practice. Being a business owner has taught me more about myself than I ever imagined (and more than I was ready for at times haha). I’ve learned that I can either resist it and try to control, and when I do that, I limit myself and I suffer. Or, I can open to see the way in which life is here to guide me and teach me, and in doing so – get out of my own way and receive the success that is here for me.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love when friends visit Denver! I literally have a saved note in my phone of an itinerary that I send friends when they are in the area. I’m a foodie so our itinerary will revolve around food.
We will kick off the weekend with pre-dinner drinks at Denver Beer Co, we will have dinner at El Five, walk around Lohi then stop in Occidental for a night cap and the cheese curbs. Saturday morning yoga at River Yoga and brunch at Snooze. We will go to Boulder for a hike at the flatirons, then back to Denver for dinner at Hop Alley and dancing at Meadowlark.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d love to recognize my mother, Colleen Manning, for being a huge reason why I am where I am today. She has helped shaped me into the woman I am and has been by my side in full support through all my crazy ideas and out of the box thinking. Even though I chose a non-traditional path for my life, she has been in full support every step of the way.
