We had the good fortune of connecting with Melissa Kelly and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Melissa, how does your business help the community?
Bello Haven Hair Extensions is so much more than a hair salon and extensions line. Bello Haven all started because my father was a massive believer in chasing your dreams and never giving up, so that’s exactly what I did. As a memento to him, I have been repurposing old hair extensions for women with cancer for the last 5 years. This is the most rewarding part of my job; there is no greater feeling than putting these women’s brand-new wigs on and watching their reactions in the mirror. Each wig is customized to what their hair looked like before their hair loss. I do this not only to give back to the cancer community but to give these women a sense of themselves back. I believe self-confidence is so important, especially for women, so I am honored to help these ladies on their journey.

What should our readers know about your business?
Ultimately, what sets us apart is our passion, passion for hair, passion for our salon, and passion to make a difference in our client’s lives. We want every single person who sits in our chair to leave more confident and happy than when they came in. Hair is such a personal service, so having clients that fully trust us is an honor. No, it was not easy to get where we are today, but nothing good ever comes easy. There are so many challenges we have had and will continue to face, such as inflation, competition, and evolving social media platforms but overcoming each hurdle only makes us stronger. That is why I will always view challenges as a good thing because they cause us to evolve and change constantly! I want the world to know that hair extensions are so much more than a superficial service to make your hair longer. Yes, they can make your hair longer, but they can also help women who suffer from hair loss have thicker hair again or give length to women who cannot grow hair anymore. So many women suffer from hair loss for several reasons, and getting hair extensions is a great way to let your hair heal naturally while feeling like yourself again. Overall, I just want the world to know we are women supporting women, giving each other confidence, and building each other up always!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I absolutely love when my friends and family come to visit! Of course, we have to stop by the salon to treat them to a blowout or hair service of their choice. Then I love to go to Urban Egg for breakfast. We have been going there for years, and it is always so fresh and delicious. It is right by my favorite Pilates studio, so a little Pilates and breakfast on a spring morning are exactly how I like to spend my days off. I also love to take my friends and family up to the mountains when they come out, especially during the winter when we can go snowboarding! If we want to stay local, I would take them to the Red Rocks for a hike and end our evening in Denver with a bit of shopping and dinner at Quality Italian, my favorite!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shout out so many people, but for starters, I will shout out my amazing family because, without their encouragement and support, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Next, I have to give the biggest shoutout to all my Bello Babes, from our stylists behind the chair to our front desk and shipping department; we would be nothing without all of you. Your hard work and dedication never goes unnoticed or unappreciated. You all mean the entire world to me, and I would do anything for you all. Last but not least, my beautiful daughter Bella. Thank you for giving me the best job in the world as your mother and inspiring me everyday to build a beautiful future for us.
