Meet Meredith Walker | Luxury Event Designer & Planner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Meredith Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Meredith, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was my passion for creating memorable moments and unique experiences for people and my desire to do this every day of my life. I just finished my certification courses at the University and decided to take a leap of faith in myself.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I know this sounds cliche, but I love love, and I love being invited into my client’s inner circle for a moment in time to take away all the worry and stress of planning a memorable and unique event that brings family and friends together in love. The Posh Events and Affairs team is into the little details, and we will do everything within our power to make our client’s special day all they have ever imagined or dreamed of. Our motto is “We exist to create memorable moments and extraordinary experiences.” But we go beyond the day of the event. The experience our client has in working with us must be also a wonderful experience. I am where I am today because of hard work, consistency, ethical practices, transparency, and constant learning. I would never describe entrepreneurship as easy. But if you have a passion and believe in yourself and your team, good things are bound to happen, making it all worthwhile. I learned that you cannot do this alone. Don’t compare yourself to others; some decisions you’ll make will be good, and others won’t. It’s not a sprint or a marathon. It’s an Ironman/Woman Triathlon.
I want the world to know that Posh Events and Affairs is a company offering incomparable experience in event design and management services. We work from the heart and specialize in establishing customer loyalty. Your event is important, but our clients’ are most important. Trust us to make your event truly Posh.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Girlfriends in the house! We would start by going to eat at the Four Seasons inside the Mandalay Bay Hotel. Then, take a road trip to Hoover Dam to Walk On Top Tour with Seven Magic Mountains. Then, home for swimming, cocktails, and girl talk by the pool. Day two would be filled with shopping at the Wynn Plaza, the Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian Hotel, and the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace. Ending the day with sushi at Nobu. Other must-sees will be The Sphere, taking in a show or two, depending on who’s in town. And, of course, a little gambling for good measure. We would have to pick up some Garretts Popcorn and, one evening, check out Lola’s Authentic Cajun food restaurant, featuring LuggNutt on the piano. We would end the week by having a relaxing massage at Red Rock Casino and Spa, followed by the best prime rib at T-Bones.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oh my gosh, this list is going to be quite long. First, of course, I give all glory to God for giving me the desire of my heart to own an event-planning business and the courage to step out on faith. My family has been supportive and encouraging from the beginning. My husband, Ben, says he can see a particular look in my eyes when I’m working on an event and that he feels I’m firing on all cylinders. My sisters, Laurel and Gail, and my daughters, Dana and Ashly, have supported me financially. Angel and Tarlise, have been there through thick and thin, walking alongside me. My Advisory members, Gwen, Lenita, Margaret, Felicia, SalliAnne, and Brad, have a wealth of business knowledge and freely guide me. Many books have been read, but four top picks are John C. Maxwell’s 25 Ways to Win with People, Shae Bynes’ Grace over Grind, Dr. Jim Harris’ Our Unfair Advantage, and Bishop J.W. Macklin’s The Canvas of Tomorrow. And a host of friends, too many to name. But each of them knows that I am so appreciative of their support and that I love every one of them.
