Meet Micah Mitlyng | Owner of Denver Mobile Sauna

We had the good fortune of connecting with Micah Mitlyng and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Micah, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I use to work a sales rep for a service that worked with private Amazon sellers. I would do phone calls all day with different sellers, and talked with them about their product, and how they brought it from a concept in their head to an actual product people could buy on amazon.
One thing that always stood out to me, was you don’t have to be the brightest, or best, I was often shocked how many people I talked to who in my mind seemed fairly unintelligent, but because they didn’t overthink it, they where able to just go forward, go through the steps and come out the other side with a product they could sell.
What i took away from that job was failure > overthinking.
I stopped trying building business to “succeed” and instead tried to get them to the point of failure after multiple stress tests as fast as possible.
For my first 4-8 ideas I tried starting as a business i focused on all the wrong things, and it took me months to get to the point of failure as a result. Ever since then I have practiced trying to get to the fail points in an idea or new business as fast as humanly possible. This looks like, instead of having a fully flushed out beautiful website, I might have a super simple landing page that barely works and focus primarily on sales and marketing as the ability to make money really takes precedence over everything else.

What should our readers know about your business?
We are a mobile sauna rental company in Denver Colorado, called Denver Mobile Sauna.
I’m most proud of us growing the business over the last 6 months and trying 4 different business models, that have helped us get to where we are today.
It wasn’t easy, there and and where a lot of challenges along the way. But I am incredible grateful to be in the position that I am to be able to deal with these types of problems. Its a good place to be.
My 3 biggest things that help me stay focused:
Coffee
Kids
Debt 🙂
The biggest lesson we have learned is the rental model people actually want vs what we thought they would want.
Biggest thing I would want people to know about our brand…. Is that sauna’s are awesome, and if you haven’t had the ability to try it yet, a wood burning sauna can change your life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Depends on the friend honestly. ;P
Being from Denver.
I would say I would take them to a few good food trucks or Korean restaurants.
A few good hikes in the foothills, or white water rafting if they are feeling adventurous, followed by a sauna session at Denver Mobile Sauna (www.denvermobilesauna.com) after to warm up.
I would also try to take them on a day trip to Manitou Springs, as I love that little town. Maybe hike the incline if they are feeling adventurous.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Dan, has been a business mentor to me for the past 10 years or so.
Here are the highlights from what I love about his story.
Started his first business in college selling keychains
Funded his first business from winnings from playing online poker.
Created a process to help him sell more keychains that eventually became its own standalone business.
Solved problems that he saw people where having in that business by creating a custom software solution that later exploded in growth and was sold for multiple 7 figures.
Whats inspiring to me about his story, is he would always incorporate and spring board off of what he learned into successful business’s and I think that is truly an artform in and of its self. Everyone does that to a certain point, in life, or their career, but to do it as well and with as much consistently as Dan has done it, is unique.
