We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Cuasito and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michael, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
I define success on how well you impact people’s lives for the better. Success doesn’t always have to tie in to your job or career. I feel like success comes from staying true to yourself, always being able to listen and providing value to others in a selfless serviced manner. Success comes with honesty and listening and I was always taught to listen before speaking. Being able to understand people’s wants and needs is very important. Hearing another person’s perspective is always beneficial and I also believe the most successful people are very open minded.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Being a realtor, there are a lot of ups and downs within the industry. Especially in today’s market. I believe what sets me apart from others is my level of perseverance and patience. I feel like I am great at listening. Whether it’s people I know or don’t know or if I’m talking to children or adults. I have always kept an open ear. Business wise, I’m still learning a lot about the along with learning about myself. I feel like when we meet certain levels of adversity, you start to see who you really are. There may be times where you question yourself and think “Do I want to continue or do I want quit” and most likely you don’t want to quit. I don’t think anything worth pursuing is ever easy. I want people to know that they can achieve anything if they’re willing to learn. Learn about a business, others, or themselves. I moved to Colorado in 2011 from Queens, NY after my mother got remarried. I was always interested in real estate since the time I was in college but didn’t know where to start. In 2019, I went back to NY to visit the old apartment I grew up in due to the fact that we were selling it. It was a 2 bed 1 bath one floor apt. It was completely renovated and looked more beautiful than it ever was when we were living there. We held on to the apt even though we lived in Colorado. When we came back to view the apt before officially selling it, I had the strongest reflection I think I ever had in my life. I was filled with gratitude thinking back how far my family and I came. In NY, My brother and I used to look out our room window and see parked cars and trash/waste disposal bins. Now we look out our rooms and see perfect sunsets and mountains. I would’ve never thought I would be where i’m at now. I have exchanged my expectations with appreciation and that has made all the difference.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When I have friends visit, we like to go hiking, probably somewhere like Boulder Mountain Park. I also like the Manitou Springs Incline if they’re up for a challenge, or somewhere around Morrison/ Red Rocks area. I love the views we get up there. If we’re planning on getting food to eat, I would probably head around Denver for tacos, ramen or pho, or Aurora if we want Puerto Rican food at this place called Lechonera de Familia. Hopefully if it’s around basketball season, we would be able to catch a Nuggets game. I think this roster we have now is the best roster since the 2008-2009 team. I like the RiNo district a lot. It’s probably my favorite place to be in Denver. The bars are more laid back, there are great breweries scattered and on top of that there are painted murals everywhere in alleys and on the side of buildings. You get to appreciate other people’s creativity there in that area.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people who have impacted my life. I want to thank God for giving me an opportunity to help others the way I do. I wake up knowing that I am blessed. I want to thank my family and friends for being so supportive throughout this whole journey. I want to thank my employing broker, Daniel, who took a chance on me, mentoring me and providing me an opportunity. I want to thank my girlfriend Kaitlin for being patient with me along this journey. Drew Joiner and David Gurzhiev who inspired me through their journey of entrepreneurship. I wanna s/o Zack Harrell from VF Corp & Jake Juarez for my professional development and lastly I’d like to thank Inky Johnson. Although I never met him, his testimony on trials and tribulations have been nothing but inspiring. It definitely provided a perspective and shifted the way I look at life.
