We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Fournier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michelle, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
Oh – all of these questions are so delicious! The single most important decision I’ve made that contributes to my success is simply to be me. After all everyone else is taken! For decades I was doing my best to be who I thought I had to be so that other people would approve of me, accept me, and love me. I realized that my true giftedness is in being me. Doing what makes my heart sing. That is when I can make the biggest contribution in this world. And now I support others in being true to themselves, being authentic, being in alignment with themselves. I share and coach my message so that others see their value, and live in alignment. When we are in alignment, money flows!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a Master Mindset and Transformation Coach. I am also a Master Practitioner in Mental and Emotional Release, NLP, and Hypnosis. I spent 24 years in the Army as a Critical Care Nurse – that was an adventure, traveling the world, taking care of our soldiers, and developing my abilities as a leader. What I discovered in my life is that I was living from a place of doing ‘what’s right’, which was really what other people thought was right.
For a long time I didn’t think I was good enough. Despite plenty of tangible evidence to the contrary. In the Army I even jumped out of perfectly good airplanes and rappelled out of helicopters to prove I was a Bad Ass – only problem was I didn’t believe it on the inside.
After years of personal development and tapping into my intuition and building my self-confidence, at the young age of 61 I finally started my own business. Showing up as me. Doing what was right for me instead of everyone else.
What sets me apart is my life experience, my sense of humor (I do stand up comedy), my passion, my belief in others and my candid truth.
I’ve co-authored 2 books (Freeing Godiva, A Woman’s Journey of Self-Empowerment and The Sacred Dance, Wisdom from Leaders Living a Soul-Led Life. My own book: WOW! My Evidence and Strategy Book for Success is in the final editing stage.
I use NLP and MER to help people release and disconnect from their Self-Sabotage at the unconscious level to help them life a life by their design.
I’ve created retreats for Women called Piss Off Perfect in conjunction with one of my best friends. We work with women to give up the stinkin’ illusion of perfection.
What I want the world to know is that they are enough. Nothing needs to be added. That in living from a place of authenticity and personal fulfillment, it brings aliveness to this world that is so desperately needed. And don’t wait til you’re 61!!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had to stay locally I would do several day trips. We would head down the road to Red Rocks and Garden of the Gods. Such amazing places that are free even! Being in nature, truly being able to be in the present moment and to ponder with awe the fact that we are part of a such a brilliant magnificent Universe. At Red Rocks – I’d get on stage and do a motivational talk. My bestie would cheer for me from the audience. Of course, we would go play a few rounds of golf – Fox Hollow Golf Course and Willis Case Golf Course. SO much fun! And of course, we’d have our birdie juice – Whipped Cream Vodka! Playing golf with a view of the Rocky Mountains is a treat any day.
I’d throw a party at my house – grill on the deck, have other friends bring their favorite dishes. I would bake my world famous apple pie (a guy married me once for that!). Red wine is a must. We’d play games and laugh ourselves silly.
OR we’d hop a plane and go to Cabo San Lucas – stay at the Fiesta Americana or Pueblo Bonito in a room with an ocean view. Play golf at Puerto Los Cabos or Diamante Golf Course. Spend lots of time at the pool or walking the beach. And enjoy some of our favorite meals at Sur and Edith’s.
So many options!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oh so many! Life is a team sport! To those who believed in me when I couldn’t – Haaheo Scanlon, my life partner Lief Jensen, Jessica Jaramillo, Samantha Hedberg, Heather Axtel, Terri Wilber, and my bonus Mom Arlette. And so many more!
