We had the good fortune of connecting with Ross Ziev and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ross, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
After graduating from law school, I found myself working for other law firms that had more history and bragged about their experience. These were attorneys that had been licensed for 10, 20, or even 50 years, but they hadn’t evolved how they practiced law. The world around us had changed and the law with it. I wanted to build a new law firm that could implement the newest tech and practices in a way that benefits the clients and can adapt to a changing society.

What should our readers know about your business?
When people ask about my firm, most people expect to hear about the accolades I have collected. For example, in recent years I have won several awards including Case of the Year for 2021 and 2020, I have been voted Colorado’s #1 Personal Injury Attorney, as well as selected for 5280 Magazine’s Top Lawyers List; however, the level of service needed to be given those accolades is due in part to my amazing team working with me. The team I have built is a large factor in how I got where I am today, and I love bragging about them.

I really am so proud of building a team that truly cares about the success of our clients and believes in the righteousness of the cases we take. I named my firm Legal Help In Colorado because our goal is to help people who have been injured receive the care and compensation they need to move forward with their lives. However, insurance companies will often do everything in their power to keep that from happening. When my team takes on a new client, they know it may be an uphill battle, but the time and energy invested are worth it; they want to be on the front lines in fighting these cases.

Though I have had much success with Legal Help In Colorado, not everything has been smooth sailing. In running a business lessons are learned seemingly every day, but one that has stuck with me is a lesson on perception. I have found that it’s easy to overcome the bad stereotypes of being a PI attorney and part of doing that is in connecting with the community to show how what I do helps society at large. Many don’t consider how big corporations won’t respond unless there are consequences to their bottom line. Individuals are involved in the cases we try, but we make it clear that companies have to make things safer and that means safer for everyone. Regardless of if it is a grocery chain, construction contractor, or insurance company representing a reckless driver, by holding companies accountable, changes will be made that benefit us all in the future.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
While there are too many amazing places to visit in Colorado, there are two musts for anyone visiting. The first is hitting the slopes in Vail. I love to ski & snowboard and there is nothing that compares to seeing the breathtaking Colorado landscape from the top of a mountain. As for eats, my go to place is Lao Wang Noodle House for soup dumplings.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would say that the local Burning Man organization, Apogaea, deserves a shoutout for the impact it has had on me and how I run my firm. Meeting people through that organization has helped open my eyes to how much good local artists do for the community. As a PI attorney, the core of what I do is helping people so organizations that support the same values are invaluable. The world of personal injury is not very artist-centered, so I now take every opportunity to help support and engage with the local artists that help make Colorado unique.
