We had the good fortune of connecting with mimosa lo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi mimosa, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?

Yes, my favourite affirmation is

“When you want something, the whole universe conspires in order for you to achieve it” — The Alchemist.

I love this quote, because I experienced it MANY TIMES. I once read a blogger that she was working for a project in Egypt, I was thinking wow how nice to work in Egypt, it would be great if I can do that too. Not long after, I applied an office job in Egyptian Chambers Of Commerce, I was not so into the office job, but on the second day, they asked me if I would like to work for a project in Egypt,
of course I said YES!

Also there was one evening I took a shower and thought that I didn’t have much money left in my bank account, what if I have 15000USD now, what would I do? 2 days later I got a job offer to shoot a catalog for a kids brand and they asked me for a quotation, you know what, my quotation was what I knew during the shower:)

There are many stories like that for me, the secret of it is to keep our mind really quite, forget time and space and go into the flow, it only works when we are in a very pure mindset with openness and trust but without expectations. Ask the universe kindly and stay focus on what we truly want, do not let a single thought of what we don’t want to sneak in.

I always feel so touched with so much gratitude when the universe heard me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

For me to create is like playing games, it is pure and fun. I would say my vision is pretty funky, dreamy and surreal. I love to combine portraits with natural elements and play around with colors, lights, textures, shapes, imagination, I just go with my intuitions, the outcome is usually pretty surprising and unpredictable . Although it is a still image but you may see different dimensions and motion through it. Some of my friends told me, they felt my art is quite spiritual.

I also really love nature, I take a lot of micro shots for flowers. I look at them and feel they dance with the wind, breath the sun, their exquisite beauty touches my soul deeply, I could forget my own being when I connect with them. It is so healing.

I would love to use my art to inspire people to sense all the details and beauty around us, to open our hearts and feel the connections, to play as a child, to be brave and go for what we truly want in this precious life.

But to work for clients, we need to communicate well in the begging, sometimes they don’t really know what they want, so we may need to help them to find a direction, and be super clean with our and service and price, it shall not mix personal feelings. We artists shall be very confident and know our value.

I was shy to tell my price to some clients and mix personal feelings, in the end I did so much more work and the client still complained that they got too little, so it was a quite a lesson. If we are not clear with our value, who else will cherish your value?

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

I live in Berlin, so the best area I would show is the area around Hackescher Market, they are so many nice cafes, alternative shops, unique corners. I also would take them to some hidden forest and lakes, Berlin is quite a natural city.

Of course, Berlin is so famous for its club, my favourite club is Kater Blau and Beata Uwe, it is more like a playground for adults, we dance like kids, so freely and fun. Also some really deep conversations could come from total strangers. I must say I learnt what is love between people through clubs.

Besides, I will take them to play table tennis in Mauer park, we have a super nice community there, we go there almost everyday to play with each other, especially at this special moments, the connections and love we shared is so heart warming.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

I would love to thank for this amazing artist: Patti Smith, she inspires me to be an artist and makes me feel we are here to love each other.

I would also love to thank for this powerful book “The alchemist”

It keeps on reminding me that we are one, we are connected with everyone and everything, nothing happens randomly, we can always choose where to put our perspectives especially over difficult times, if we listen to our hearts gently, the power of intention will lead us the way.

That also works with my career, I work as a freelance photographer and videographer, there are ups and downs, when I get projects I work 200% for it, when I don’t have projects, I mediate and keep myself quite and joyful inside and keeping asking the universe kindly.

Also there are so many people I need to thank for along the way, especially my parents and my partner, they always believe I am a great artist, so to live and create as true artist is my way to reward them.
