We had the good fortune of connecting with Dominique Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dominique, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I find importance to my actions and examples that I set to others. I am very passionate about my beliefs, and feel each of us have a strong connection to all of our surroundings. In order for each of us to shine, sometimes we must take control. This mindset is what encouraged me to start my own business and do my part.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My passion is to help others find confidence and self love through beauty/style. I focus on using creativity and colors to enhance inner\outer beauty. Working in the industry for almost a decade has giving me a wide range of experience in all the trendy styles and techniques. I understand and believe in the importance of daily balance and connection. My work incorporates beauty and health through nature to achieve ones wholeness and beauty. I have learned and experienced many different challenges, but I am thankful that I continued to push through. Each obstacle encouraged growth and gave me the mindset to accomplish my dreams. True Essence Salon & Day Spa is a green salon and collaborates with B-certified, clean companies. We focus on setting an example to our community by working with sustainable companies and minimizing our footprints. We love the planet we live in and do our part to protect it. We offer a wide range of hair services, facials, body work and hair removal. We offer plant based skin products, hair care, soaps, teas and bath salts. The environment is a perfect place for everyone to de-stress and feel closer to nature.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is a tough one, there is so many beautiful and amazing places to visit here in Denver/surrounding areas. I will give you some of my favorite spots to eat and hangout, but know there is so many gems that I still have yet to discover. My first recommendation would be the historic Union Station, followed by my favorite restaurants JAX Fish House & Oyster Bar. I enjoy catching shows at the Ogden Theater, Bluebird Theater or Fillmore Auditorium. They have a ton of history. After a show, I normally make my round to The 1Up Arcade Bar, where I enjoy some drinks and games. For you fellow sports fanatics, my husband and I enjoy watching a Rockies game or a concert at Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater. This is a must. Some of our regular food joints consist of Fire on the Mountain, Uncle Gregorio’s and Pizza Forte. If we are feeling the need to step it up, El Chingon Mexican Bistro, El Five, Gaetano’s or Cuba Cuba Cafe & Bar are our go to. Of course we have some of our favorite breweries like New Terrain Brewery Company. We enjoy getting a hike in at the North Table Trail, then after enjoy a refreshing beverage from New Terrain. We also tend to gravitate to Colorado Plus Brew Pub and Taphouse or Great Divide Brewing Co. We are looking forward to Odell’s Sloan’s Lake Brewhouse opening their doors real soon. I really enjoy the outdoors, some beautiful mountain areas to check out that are not too far from Denver are Estes, Glenwood Springs, Buena Vista, and one of my favorite spots, Steamboat. I find hot springs to be healing for the soul. In the winter, we tend to hit the slopes followed by a soak in one of the many hot springs surrounded by the listed areas. In the Summer, we like to take advantage of these areas with camping, fishing and hiking. My adventurous family enjoys the excitement Glenwood Canverns Amusement Park has to offer whenever they come to visit. As you can see, Denver has so much to offer and more. All are welcome and we hope to see you soon. And on your way out, don’t forget to stop by True Essence Salon for that much needed relaxation.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I first want to thank God for all the strength, wisdom and love He has blessed me with. My family, I am truly thankful to have a supportive husband, parents, siblings and external family. Love you guys!! I am also thankful for my clients that are also business owners that have encouraged and pointed me in the right direction. Local Denver SBA classes and advisors who helped guided me with any questions or concerns. I continue to read and take classes wherever I may find them. The key to success is to continue growing and expanding. If you fail, learn the lesson but keep pushing through….
