We had the good fortune of connecting with Mindy Hutt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mindy, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I think about work life balance as a mindful effort. Establishing balance calls you to consider what healthy boundaries look like between the work you do, and the life you want to live outside of it. This can be different for each person, but for me it looks like not engaging with my business outside of the hours I have set to do so. It’s important to me to be present for my family and friends without feeling distracted.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The biggest lesson I have learned starting my own business is to Just. Keep. Going. There have been days were I have felt incredibly discouraged, but I believe in what I am doing, and make a conscious choice to keep my head up. I want the world to know that professional organization services are so much more than pretty bins and baskets. Organization is a form of self-care, and deserves to be seen as such. Having smart systems and routines in place not only make your daily rhythms that much more effortless, it frees up mental space so that you can spend more time connecting with the people and activities that light you up.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Love this question. If my best friend was visiting I would take her for brunch at Huckleberry in downtown Louisville, we would hike around Davidson Mesa, and then head to Sweet Cow for some of their delicious ice cream. I would take her to shop downtown Boulder at the Pearl Street mall and then we would enjoy some tacos and margaritas on the rooftop patio at Rio Grande. To finish off the night we would head to The Louisville Underground for some live music or comedy!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to give a Shoutout to all of the authors who inspired me on the path towards personal development. Without them I would not be equipped with the wealth of knowledge they provided to propel me forward on this journey. Kendra Adachi, Emily Ley, and Kate Bowler, just to name a few!
