Meet Mini | Artist by Numbers

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mini and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mini, why did you pursue a creative career?
Interestingly, I didn’t pursue the art career at all when I was young even though I had a talent. In fact, I was running away from it because I knew that drawing and painting would not pay the bills. And since I was running away from the only thing I liked, I struggled to find my place in the professional world. Until, I became an accountant. I didn’t even like math.
Years later, I picked up a pencil and a paper and started sketching. It was like rewiring my brain again to see the world in colors and on a tip of a brush.
At night, my left brain kicks in and in the morning my right brain takes over. During weekend, my right brain is simply taking time off.
Art is an outlet for me in the dark and good time. My style is to capture a feeling or a moment. Sometimes, the feeling is warm and other times it’s dark. I emphasize on the drama on my canvas.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m just a regular girl who likes art, and there are a lot of artists out there who can do what I do, even better. I’m looking for an audience who like what I deliver.
I’m asking the readers of this article to know that wherever you are in your journey, you’re not alone, your emotions are yours but I can listen to them and feel them and my art portrays that. My style represents some emotional moments in my life, like the toy in the suitcase, it’s a “memento” for when my dad used to come back from his trips and get me a new toy. Or the helping hand that weaves its threads in many moments in my life.
I believe that no one’s journey is easy and life is overwhelming. And art requires discipline and patience, just like accounting. When looking at a complicated formula in an excel file, just break down to the simplest form and art is no different.
I’m not proud yet, I am satisfied with a pat on the back, because my journey is still forming a path ahead of me, and so many things not achieved yet.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Pablo’s coffee in the AM. Brunch at the Hampton Socials or Root down. Red Rocks show at night. Life is perfect!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to my family for being there and my friends for accepting my quirks.
