We had the good fortune of connecting with Molly Cook and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Molly, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
my thought process behind starting my own business was noticing the lack of high-end chocolate and artisan bonbons in my area. When my husband and I moved to this area about five years ago, we came from working at a high-end chocolate and pastry shop, and I knew that my skills would be needed to show the people of Asheville that this high and great quality product can exist here. In addition to that, I wanted to create my own set of products and show myself just how far I could take the leap !

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started working in kitchens at 14 and it was literally from the ground up. I started with washing dishes in a mom and pop restaurant and quickly was trained from station to station working in different restaurants and hotels, until I went to pastry school and decided to advance my career by learning about chocolate. I was fortunate enough to train under some of the best Chocolatiers in the country, and that is what truly made my skills blossom, and grow as a chef/chocolatier.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, that is pretty easy ! We live in Asheville North Carolina, and there is no shortage of things to do/eat and drink around here. The first thing I would do is start off downtown and do a pub crawl of hitting up all of the local breweries and wineries. In between all of that definitely hitting up a lot of the food joints. Barbecue scene is pretty big around here as well as just the endless culinary delights you can find all over our city ! My personal favorite is Zambra It’s a tapas restaurant ! Going on a hike especially one with waterfalls would be something that’s awesome and there’s endless possibilities to do that around here!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband ! He is an amazing chocolatier and pastry chef, and I learned a majority of the skills and training from him!
