Meet Mona Gutierrez | Owner of Happy Home Cleaning Solutions

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mona Gutierrez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mona, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I used to work in an Ortho office as their financial coordinator. For the longest time I thought that climbing up the corporate ladder was going to be my way to success. I was young when I worked there and had nothing but time, but then motherhood came and my priorities shifted. I realized I couldn’t give my entire day to the office as easily as before because I had a child now and it pained me to be away from him practically every single day since I worked from 730am until practically 6pm by the time I was home with him. That is when I started thinking about starting a business that I can eventually grow & manage from home and that would give me time with my kids. I knew the cleaning business well since I have been in that business with my mom since I was a kid. I knew the work behind it, my mom had taught me everything about it, and I was confident I could make it grow. By the time my daughter came I knew it was my time to take the jump and I left the office. I took a year off with my kids and then I hit the ground running! I had one helper, my sister in law Priscilla, and we just went for it. We worked all the jobs they’d give us for almost nothing just to get our name out there and gain experience. Those first 2 years of Happy Home were hard, we worked non stop but sure enough we started getting referrals to bigger and better jobs. Eventually, Priscilla had to leave me because she was pregnant with her baby girl, when this happened I had to shift to hiring on more ladies because we just had too much work that I could not do alone. From there we started growing more and more and now I have a team of 6! The dream is to have a 100 lady team, but we will get there step by step.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our journey traces back to a foundation of hard work and unwavering commitment, passed down from one generation to the next. It all began with my mother, who poured her heart and soul into establishing this business, laying the groundwork for what it is today. I am deeply honored to continue her legacy and uphold the values she instilled in us.
The profound gratitude I hold for the opportunities my mother’s dedication has provided, fuels my passion for this business. It’s more than just a job; it’s a calling born out of reverence for her sacrifices and the desire to build upon the solid foundation she laid. Happy Home isn’t just a business; it’s a living tribute to her resilience and an unwavering commitment to honor her legacy through growth and success.
Getting here was not easy at all. We put in endless hours of work and extreme detail to the craft in order to be able to make a name for ourselves. 4 years later I am so proud of where we are. I started Happy Home with 2 clients & 1 employee, I now have 25 clients and 6 employees. I am so proud of us as a team! The dream is to have a big team of ladies with clients all over the Denver Metro area and also tap in to Commercial Cleaning, I have one commercial client so far, but I know with time more will come. I am a firm believer that hard work and dedication gets you into rooms of opportunity, and I am no stranger to hard work, so onwards we go!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a good question! Id probably show her a few places in Denver, take her to a good place to eat. Then I would say let’s go out to the mountains! There’s so much more to see out in the mountains!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Mom, Martha. She is the reason I took this path! She taught me everything there is to know about the cleaning business at a very young age just with the sole intention of teaching me good work ethic. I know she never in a million years thought I would start a cleaning business, but it was because of the foundation she lay that I was able to build on it. She is the blueprint, the heart of Happy Home. It all started with her, I am just an extension of her.
