We had the good fortune of connecting with Monika Torsell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Monika, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Seeing how my own health and wellness journey transformed with implementing mindfulness practices. Years of my life I spent being tossed around the medical system and extremely exhausted to stand up for myself and longing to be heard and cared for. When I embraced my mindfulness practices along with the proper practitioners, it transformed my life and health. I became very passionate from my own experience to want to help others by offering thoughtful, affordable, and healing services for individuals that feel lost on where to turn next.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets me apart from other businesses: Is that I am my real life testimonial. All of my work I have done on myself in the last 13 years is why I am here today, the healthiest I have ever been. With each client, I thoughtfully listen to their intentions and lifestyle to fine tune a roadmap for success to align their mind, body and soul.

I got to where I am today:
From a lot of inner healing work and learning to love myself. Finding my naturopathic and alternative medicine team. Following my intuition and growing together with my friends, community, and support systems. Constant researching, studying and learning while working closely with my mentor.

Was it easy:
It was not easy. There were a lot of hurdles to jump over. Our brain is the center of our nervous system… So when we challenge our brain to get out of our comfort zone and try something new.. What do you usually hear? Limiting beliefs. Limiting beliefs from your family systems, social systems, and media can all trap into your mind. That was my biggest struggle to overcome.

How did I overcome my challengers: How did I do it and get over my spiraling fears of self doubt? My mindfulness practices. They became an anchor in my nervous system and started to chip away at the limiting beliefs or narrative my brain would be conditioned to go to. Then my brain started to rewire and catch when those old thoughts would surface and allow them to wash through me and not attach to the human I am today.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way: Have patience and be you. In society with social media there is so much out there and it can feel like you are in a rat race to follow the trends. Be the most authentic you and let go of societal expectations. It takes time to build a business that is truly you and what you stand for.

What’s my story:
Since a little child, I have been tapped into the energies of the dimensions. I found myself in a heightened state of awareness… dealing with bullying and torment, chronic illness, inner family system addiction, sexual assault, domestic abuse and violence, and almost crossing the rainbow. Not knowing how to express myself and advocate my needs, my senses started to highented and in return my nervous system and body started to store and manifest into more illnesses. Tossed around in the medical system, not believed or heard, constant misdiagnosis and mistreatments sunk me into a state of severe depression and apathy. In the past 13 years, a spark of energy ignited over me, drawing me up to remove the cloud over my head and advocate for myself. To start the path of healing and live my life full of joy, kindness, love, gratitude, and compassion. I stand today, continuing to invest in my own health and wellness along with developing my gifts with my cosmic team. My mission is to help others feel supported, ignite their spark, and know that they are not alone in this world.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Do a couple days in the city of Denver. Exploring the milk market for some good eats. Walk Rhino district for the visual pleasure of the local art murals. Head to Red Rocks Amphitheater to gaze at the beautiful sunset.

I would absolutely head out into the little mountains towns.

First stop Boulder to hike the flatirons, hang out by the creek, walk the Boulder Mall Promenade to explore all the heart and soul.

Nederland is a sweet little town up north of Boulder. Beautiful drive up. Stroll the town and grab a bite at New Moon Bakery and Cafe.

Head back to Denver and catch some fun at Club Vinyl rooftop bar. They have a delicious canned cocktail line there from Mad Lemon. Grab some ice cream at Little Man.

Go further south and head to Manitou Springs. Go for scenic hike and then soak in the hot springs at Sunwater Spa. Not too much further is the iconic Garden of the Gods. It’s a must see.

At the end of the trip to wrap up. Head to Cosmic Tea Holistic Shop for some high vibrational healings and local gifts to take home.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My dear friends, greatest supporters and business owners of Mad Lemon… Shona Paterson, Corina Remer, Willa Paterson, Jacob Hoy, and Maxwell Hawk. They have shown me how to embody life and be courageous in business with true passion, genuineness and strength. To be thoughtful and lift up your community with your service, product and/or brand.

My mentor Hayley Freija Wilson. With her support and transformative programs, my world has opened up in ways I couldn’t even imagine. Embodying confidence, self-love, and trust in my own gifts, I am now able to help heal and create success for others.
