We had the good fortune of connecting with Monique Bright and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Monique, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Community Connection and Celebration
Helping create the space for individuals and groups to experience celebration, connection and community, while exploring and having fun within themselves, with each other and the Earth is my passion. I believe it is pertinent to continue to foster these values for many reasons for myself and the people surrounding me.
Focus and valuing connection, community and celebration supports individual mental health and knowledge of the self and it builds community. Through my practice I hope to remind people of the importance of living in the moment and appreciating and celebrating life and its inevitable cycles.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have learned that I love to create and hold space for individuals and groups to experience celebration, connection and community within themselves, with each other and the Earth. All while having fun and exploring. I am grateful to have found ways to experience and express this passion through various forms including: Ceremonies Honoring and Celebrating the Earth and Human Cycles, Reiki/Shamanism Practice, Yoga, Plant Medicine, Various forms of Art and Collaborations.
When I moved up to Bailey, away from my community, I experienced a lack of community gathering spaces, events and a huge need for human connection, especially in the winter.
To bring people together and to share my personal practice I started hosting Solstice and Equinox Ceremonies and Gatherings. These gatherings encouraged me to start Sacred Sister Circles which has been such a blessing. The amazing connections I made through our bi weekly gatherings pushed me to stretch further into workshops and classes, teaming up with other local businesses to host events.
I have had the pleasure of working with amazing people, their homes and other local community spaces to make this happen. One of these people is RayAnn from Elevations Coworking. This fall, RayAnn Salazar and I are opening up a community space in Conifer CO and are excited to be able to offer a location to bring this experience to the larger community.
This new space, The Bright Center, is focused on wellness, connection, co-creation, education and art! We are hosting gatherings, classes, local fairs and renting out our space for events and healing sessions as well.
I am really excited for this new project! Building a community has been a long process but has been worth all of the effort and time. I love the people I am surrounded by and collaborate with.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Whenever anyone is in town I tell them to go to Convergence Station (Meow Wolf) in Denver. Hands down the best thing to do here. I love to eat at US Thai, Tarasco’s Restaurant Denver, and Aspen Perk in Conifer.
Everyone visiting needs a day out in the forest and hanging out in the river. I love Pike National Forest because I live within walking distance and its vast. Wellington Lake.
The Greenhouse in Sand Dunes Swimming Pool, Hot Sulphur Springs or another hot spring nearby is at the top of the list for at least 2 days.
Treehouse Adventure Park is a huge high ropes, challenge course. It is epic!
I love a day just hanging out in Bailey/Pine/Conifer too. Mad Jacks Brewery, Aspen Peak Cellars, Sasquatch Outpost, Blossoming Boutique, Native Vibrations.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have so many people to give recognition to who helped me on my path. I am grateful to my family and closest friends for the continuous love and support they show me.
My life partner, Nick Smith, continues to challenge me and helps to keep me grounded. As I flow through the cycles he is there, and is my biggest fan as I grow in this life.
The amazing group of women in my Sacred Sister Circles have been there for me and encouraging me to shine as bright as I want and always offer their helping hands and listening ears. I would not be where I am today without them.
I want to give love to and recognize my teachers; my Mother, my Grandmother, Sophia Paul and the Shoshoni Yoga Retreat Teachers all whom I admire and strive to be more like everyday.
I am blessed to have so much support from my local community.
Kelsey and Nick Fullerton, the owners of Treehouse Adventure Park in Bailey CO, have been incredibly supportive and excited for my new adventures. They have allowed me to step into and execute my strengths in their newer, small business. Because of that, I have been able to help create one of my favorite places in the world.
Scott Turner and Elizabeth Conwell, the owners of Granite Fitness in Pine CO, welcomed me with open arms into their community and space. I have never felt so at home in a gym setting. They have offered me so much opportunity, guidance and suggestions to help make me successful.
Jack and Allison Hansel, the owners of Mad Jacks Brewery in Bailey CO, are some of the sweetest people I know. I am forever grateful for the vibe and space they provide for the community. I have met some of my favorite people there and know I can always show up and find community. They support my dreams and silliness in their space.
Melissa Cheshire and Glen Isle Resort in Bailey CO match me in my entrepreneur spirit. It has been so much fun to create brand new ideas and play while building a new business and I cant wait to see where it goes. Melissa and I are so different but we complement one another. I really value her openness and the diversity she brings.
I am happy to give a huge shoutout to RayAnn Salazar, the owner of Elevations Coworking. I honestly could not say enough. She sees me. She sees my potential and has given me the space to go for everything I want and dream. RayAnn truly believes in me and is an amazing friend to top it off. She is a rare gem.
I couldn’t be more proud to have these humans in my life. Each of these people embrace the real me.
I am so grateful
