We had the good fortune of connecting with N3ptune and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi N3ptune, what do you attribute your success to?
Versatility! Being able to be a chameleon in not only the music & appearance, but in all aspects of business and artistry. My role models are billionaires & legends you know, so I continue to study what they all have in common. And the what stood out is that they NEVER stay(ed) the same!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
At heart, I am an entertainer. I don’t just sing and dance, I act, I’m a director, I do photography, etc. The arts are my strong suit! I have a knack for perfecting my craft & topping my old work. I’m completely obsessed with my work and becoming better at what I do. The difference between myself and everyone else, I’m not creating standard music or art. Most artists aren’t creating music to withstand the test of time, they’re focused on what’s trending and what sells. I chose the “long run” over instant fame. I’ve known exactly what kind of music to make and how to brand myself, to blow up like any other generic rapper. I chose to stay true to the music my soul yearns for and the art that even I myself want to see. Beyoncé is my No. 1 and I study the blueprint she continues to leave behind. With that said, I have my hand on EVERYTHING I do. I know how everything should look, sound & function, and that has been a challenge, but it has become my strength. My weaknesses end up being my strengths and I refuse to compromise! When no one wants to listen, I give ‘em no choice but to. The world will come to know, that I am one of the greatest artists of all time. I used to get made fun of & made to feel guilty for thinking this way, but I now know, those same people just didn’t believe in their own individual greatness the same way I do. Beyond entertainment, I’m good person and want to make the world a better place one song at a time.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m not gonna lie, I am such a homebody *laughs *. I personally love cooking, so I’d cook all weekend, binge watch a dope series and just kick it to be honest. I don’t smoke or drink anymore, so I’m all about genuine experiences and a dope vibe!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Grandmother Velma Watkins, played a huge role in my life. She was the second Black Meter Maid in Colorado history and she was also a composer. My grandmother was the first person to believe in my talents, and saw my future years before I did. She was one of the strongest women in my life, may she Rest In Power. My sister Jenn is my motivation, inspiration and my ROCK! Her perseverance and work ethic are truly something to behold! She is the mother of my nephew and niece, Malachi & Zylah, who are EXTREMELY bright! They’re bundles of actual JOY, I love them so much! “Them my my ride or dies”. My Aunt T & my Uncle Frank are my foundation. They are such kind people and so GIVING! My Aunt has a PHD, her Doctorate, is an evangelist and is a teacher! My Uncle has a Bachelors in computer programming and is the pastor at, Gods Will Christian Fellowship. My aunt & uncle’s generosity and kindness is contagious. There so many more, but these people are the reason I go so hard, why I don’t compromise and make a way out of no way. They are my breathes of fresh air.
