We had the good fortune of connecting with Nadia Rae Al-Yagout and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nadia Rae, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
As a clinically trained psychotherapist, I have been immersed in the world of psychology for years. I was fortunate enough to study depth psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute, which is very much soul-focused psychology. I specifically chose a program that cared more about exploration of soul than medicalizing or pathologizing people’s symptoms. It was a rigorous, enriching, and transformative experience. While it was what I would argue was one of the best and most comprehensive graduate counseling programs in the country, I still felt like the traditional therapeutic paradigm was lacking. Seeing clients for only 50 minutes weekly or biweekly just wasn’t enough. There is too much that happens for clients in between sessions to track in 50 minutes, and it’s usually what’s happening in between sessions that needs the most attention. In addition, many of my clients have told me that they’ve been in therapy for years with other therapists and still felt stuck. To me, it just felt problematic and unethical to keep working with people in this model. I yearned to help people heal faster, so that they could gain back time, energy, finances, and hope. So I left the traditional therapy world and created my own unique programs of seeing clients in 3 month 1:1 intensive containers, in which we are working together almost daily. The 3 month container has shown equivalency to about 3 years in traditional therapy for the average client. I’ve also designed group intensives and self-paced courses to reach a wider range of clients who are not in a financial situation to work 1:1. It’s been absolutely transformative for my clients. One client in a current high-level 1:1 spot just shared with me, “I’ve been in therapy on and off for 15 years, and I’ve experienced more growth in these last two months than what feels like the last 15 years together”. That made my heart explode! That’s exactly why I came up with my business model.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m most proud of myself in the sense that I’ve followed my intuition with my business. I left the traditional world of talk therapy, because I felt it to not be enough. I combine a mix of psychological modalities: psychology, somatic experiencing, and polyvagal theory alongside coaching and mentorship skills to help my clients heal. I’ve overcome a lot in my own personal life and as a client in psychotherapy for over a decade. I’ve taken my entire healing journey and what I have found to be the most helpful and have synthesized it into programs that help clients in a much smoother and faster way than what I went through. I want the world to know that it is absolutely possible to heal and to experience a life full of joy and ease. Of course, pain is inevitable and a part of being human, but feeling pain is very different from deep suffering, and many people are stuck in the suffering. YOU ARE SO MUCH MORE POWERFUL THAN YOU THINK!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
You know, I’m still new to Denver myself. I have only been in Denver for 6 months. I love being outdoors, so I would definitely take them to places like Red Rocks, Waterton Canyon, and Wash Park. As for food, I love Bartaco and True Foods Kitchen!
