Meet Nancy Gakere | Travel Influencer & Business Manager

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nancy Gakere and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nancy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’m originally from Kenya! But I have lived in the US for over 20 years. Being an immigrant and creating a life in a foreign country has definitely impacted my love for travel and adventure and my intrigue in different cultures

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a travel influencer, I set out to show the world that travel is accessible and affordable and such an amazing resource we have to enrich our lives. I started by sharing my travel content with friends and family and realized that many people felt it was out of reach for them so I started to show them how they could also do it by sharing tips and strategies that I use. I also wanted to spark their interest in travel so they can make it a priority in their own lives and stop seeing it as unattainable. Along the way I have learned that dedication and consistency is what brings results and you need an actual plan of action to make anything happen. Just having passion for something is not enough. I want the world to know that travel is the best education there is.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Los Angeles and my favorite places to take my friends when they visit are the usual tourist places: Venice Beach, Beverly Hills, Hollywood walk of fame, Universal Studios, The Getty Museum and Griffith Park Observatory. I love going to the Malibu beer and wine garden and eating at Yamashiro Japanese restaurant in Hollywood Hills
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give a shout out to my family for always loving and supporting me even when my ideas are a bit wild! They are definitely the wind beneath my wings
