We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elizabeth, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Hands down, the most important factor about our Brand is the unwavering focus on achieving our Band mission; to inspire scientific curiosity and a life-long love of learning for all children. Kazoom Kids is deeply committed to finding ways for all children to interact, engage and engross themselves in the exploration of science and engineering. Our hope is that our products, spark curiosity and enable parents and caregivers to connect with children scientifically in a meaningful and substantive way. Our line of fun, fashionable, science-themed shoes and socks, along with our multi-use packaging and science focused website activities, are all vehicles to allow children to explore the sciences in a positive and exciting way. Kazoom Kids is so much more than a Brand that just sells shoes and socks. We want to be the Brand that launches children everywhere into a life-long affinity, belief and respect for the wonderous world of science and engineering. Our goal is to Inspire curiosity, one step at a time…..
What should our readers know about your business?
As an entrepreneur, I have spent much of my adult life being drawn to business endeavors that shatter the obsession that business should only be about profits. I deeply believe in the concept of mission driven business. Kazoom Kids was built on the belief that science is real, science is fun, and science is for everyone — especially our littlest learners! We believe deeply that science should be ungendered and we have made it our mission to spark scientific curiosity and a lifelong love of science and engineering for all children. As I embarked on this journey in 2020, I had very little experience in this particular business arena. I very quickly realized that there was much I did not know and I would spend the next few years learning and growing as our Brand developed. Along the way, I have learned to be flexible and creative. If problems arise, which they undoubtedly will, I focus primarily on how to solve the problem efficiently and quickly. I also see obstacles as opportunities for growth. I have learned so much more from the mistakes I have made than the easy and effortless successes. At the end of the day, the most important aspect of my business success is the commitment to the idea that the Brand we are launching is worthwhile and has the potential to touch children’s lives in a meaningful way.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
What a fun and thoughtful question! If it was a week-long itinerary I would absolutely recommend some of my favorites in Colorado. Garden of The Gods in Colorado Springs and the Cheyanne Mountain Zoo are always fun and awe-inspiring. In Denver, I would be sure to catch an evening Rockies game and a concert at Red Rocks of course! Boulder is a must for all visitors in my opinion. A visit to Chautauqua is always lovely. A stroll along Pearl Street Mall, some sushi at Hapa, a margarita at the Rio and some ice cream at Ben and Jerry’s round out a nearly perfect day! In Longmont, we would stroll along the many beautiful bike paths, enjoy an evening strolling main street, a visit to Wibby’s is a must and of course more sushi a Sakura! We would likely finish with a trip to Rocky Mountain National park and old town Fort Collins.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Huge shout out to our amazingly talented and creative Kazoom Kids team! Laura, Erin and Lisa have helped so much to make Kazoom Kids a reality. It all started with this out of this world idea and each of them has worked incredibly hard and dedicated so much of their time and immense talents to bringing this Brand to fruition. I am beyond grateful every day to have such talented and committed women helping me to launch Kazoom Kids!
