We had the good fortune of connecting with Nate “Nemo” Niemerowicz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nate “Nemo”, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I love risk. Hell, it’s my favorite board game. In all seriousness though, I think I need risk to fully believe in a decision. It’s got to have a very real positive and negative outcome, a potential consequence, a real cost to its existence. For me, if there isn’t some level of risk, it won’t trigger the best parts of creativity, the process will lack depth. For instance, growing a business during a global pandemic – that’s a risk. That risk created a series of opportunities, and engaged my process as a creative. So as much as it’s about the risk, it’s also about the individual, how they navigate the risks, and pursue outcomes. The same risk looks different for me than it does for someone else.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What is my story? I feel like I don’t just see things differently, I see things that others really don’t. I’m all about connections, the common thread of creativity. As I enter into these layers of meta-connections, when I hit those layers correctly, that’s my best work. I set the bar high for myself because I know the potential that each connection carries, and I think that really shows up in my cocktail art.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of the first things I’m gonna do is get out of the city and get into the mountains. As great as the city is, if you don’t contextualize it in the mountains, as a city surrounded by the Rockies, you’re missing the foundational element of the city’s identity. After we leave the mountains, we’ll make our way to some of my favorite spots. A speakeasy tour, working our way through the neighborhoods – the classics like Union Lodge No. 1, Williams & Graham, Green Russel, and introduce you to the people who give this city life. Definitely going to take you to the best bartenders in the city, who are going to make you the best drink for you. We’ll talk, and drink, and learn, and bond, and just soak up what the city offers. A night romping around Union Station is a must, with a few nights spent at shows at Cervantes or The Black Box and a trip to The Mishawaka. If you haven’t felt Denver bass live, this is an absolute must.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Videographer Tyler Appel, an absolute creative beast – a workhorse in every sense of the word. What he creates is not only unique and captivating, it shows the way he values every subject and client. At the age of 17, he awakened my creativity in ways I didn’t know were there. He showed me the magic of Adobe, and the rest was a wrap. My current partner Andi Whiskey, the brilliant force behind Whiskey Media studios and Twist & Tailor – sometimes I need to just shut up and learn, many thanks for having the patience to teach me that.
