We had the good fortune of connecting with Allison Orr and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Allison, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Pre-COVID Dragonfly was built on a foundation of providing a top-notch customer service experience for every customer that came in our doors. The in-store experience was one that I worked hard to continue to provide when 2020 and the challenges of COVID hit. While we had always offered services like in-home and private shopping they became more widely utilized in the months of closure or limited operations. I saw customers LOVING and positively reacting to these very personal feeling services without actually being able to have that one-on-one face-to-face interaction they had come to expect when they visited the brick and mortar. COVID made us find new ways to foster these amazing customer relationships outside of the store and via our website and social media platforms. The ability to pivot and still provide that core value of customer service has been huge to the success of Dragonfly. We recently closed the brick and mortar to go online only and that transition was made possible by the ability to provide these in-demand personalized services for customers all while working under the restrictions of COVID. Each day has been a roller coaster but we continue to adapt and every day I still get to do my favorite parts of the job – connect with my customers, share in these crazy experiences and grow and evolve with them.
What should our readers know about your business?
Dragonfly Boutique is a women’s and children’s clothing, jewelry, accessory and gift boutique. We specialize in fantastic fits and fabrics from a mix of small, independent makers and more established brands. Our selection is hand-picked to feature a mix of unique offerings at great price points with great quality in mind. Dragonfly is constantly evolving – we closed our long-time Denver based brick and mortar in October, 2020, to go online exclusive and are providing services to our customers to continue our traditions of the exceptional customer service oriented shopping experience like in-home appointments, personalized style boxes and curated gift boxes, porch drop offs and pick ups and exclusive behind-the-scenes peeks via our social media channels.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The most amazing Huevos Rancheros on the Javier’s Diner patio followed by a hike on Green Mountain Trail which is my go-to for being close to the city and some really great views. Happy hour dinner/drinks at Tacos Jalisco on the patio followed by to-go desserts from Dolce Sicilia Bakery (their cannolis are a must try!)

Shout out to my business partner, Casey Orr. He’s always a beacon of positivity, creativity and encouragement and has been a part of the Dragonfly journey since Day 1. Throughout the challenges of COVID and 2020 he has been a rock for me and for the store.
