We had the good fortune of connecting with Nevada Crandall and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nevada, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Freedom. Financial freedom, freedom of schedule, freedom of location. Growing up, I watched my parents be successful (but busy). I always admired them for their work ethic and drive, but also wondered if things could be different. Upon entering the “real world” I realized that my time was the most precious asset and that I wasn’t willing to give it up or waste it on anything that didn’t mesh well with the lifestyle that I wanted for myself. So I started auditing: my lifestyle, my expenses, how I spent my days. I got rid of anything and everything that didn’t serve this grand notion I had in my head of the level of freedom I was hoping to attain and titrated my money-making hobbies down until only the absolute, most exciting granules were left. And this is how I “filled” my days, with a few granules of well-paying work and hours upon hours of freedom to hike with my dog, climb with my boyfriend, or mtn bike with my friends. Living life as if it is my only, and my last. As Yung Pueblo says, “Measure your success by the growth of your freedom.”
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have had a wild ride with my own health and really stumbled upon this niche of a coaching career because I am a voracious reader and self-healer. I ruined my hormones and metabolism in college and spent the subsequent years trying to learn, implement, revise, and adapt everything I could read about female hormonal health to fit my specific health concerns. Friends would always ask me questions and I quickly realized that not everyone was as interested in reading book after book about the inner workings of the pituitary gland so I began writing my own cliff notes of everything I read. These cliff notes soon became e-books and coaching guides that I would use to help other women heal from issues that doctors deemed ‘normal’ or even worse, ‘in their heads.’ It is now my passion to help women regain their health and learn the education we should’ve learned about our bodies in middle school.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live just outside of Aspen so my itinerary would look a little something like: -Take them on an outlandishly long day hike where both the views and the altitude take their breath away
-Eat lunch at the last affordable lunch spot in Aspen’s downtown core
-Drive all of the dirt roads and back ways home for a little extra scenery and probably a bear sighting or two
-Get takeout and go drive up to the top of a mountain to watch the sunset
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank all of the people who have lived life differently than I daydream about, for showing me things that I don’t want so I can move closer to creating and living the life of my personal dreams.
