Meet Nicholas Gold | Founder of Schrodinger’s Packs: Tabletop Games

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicholas Gold and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nicholas, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
One of the biggest influences on my thought process when Sierra and I were starting Schrodinger’s Packs: Tabletop Games, was seeing our son’s love for playing Pokemon and Yugioh, it was still every bit as alive and inspiring to him as it was for me over 20 years ago, which granted me enough confidence to go all-in on our dream. Also working with the Autism community locally for the last 2 years, as autistic business owners ourselves, I felt the need to advocate for more neurodiverse workspaces and opportunities for this group that experiences 85% unemployment and help others do it too.

What should our readers know about your business?
Schrodinger’s Packs: Tabletop Games is one part board-game-store-of-all-things-nerdy, and one part event space where we build a community of people to play those games with. We host events for Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Pokemon every week, and have a great HeroClix and Marvel: Crisis Protocol group every week, and host Dungeons & Dragons sessions regularly. We have tons of board game demos that are free to play and have a private game room groups can use for get-togethers.
What sets us apart is heart. I’ve been in this for decades now, and got to travel the world playing Pokemon and Magic, and I’d like to foster a community here for more of that for everyone. We don’t charge people just for showing up, more players means more opportunities for people to trade, play, and make new friends!
Getting to this point was hard, we were living the RV life for a while. It was a year of planning, saving, and selling our RV that made it happen. When we got our lease, we had 5000 lbs. of wall to tear down so we could have an open and inviting play space and area from which to sell games. Starting a business with just my partner Sierra and me has been a wild ride to this day to keep up with.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well I don’t get out much anymore, but my favorite places to eat in town are Guadalajara’s and Berry Blendz! Other than that, game nights at Schrodinger’s Packs is where it’s at!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We definitely want to give a shoutout to Autism Society of Colorado! We’ve been working closely with them, supporting the community that helped me so much through hard times and gave me a community of support. We’ll be hosting a booth at their Walk With Autism event September 17th in Denver! Dalgar Communications also gets a shoutout for their great mentorship, and to Dr. Bedard for her top-notch therapy for neurodivergent folk!
