We had the good fortune of connecting with Noel Obusan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Noel, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
What makes me happy is doing things that I’ve always wanted to do. I didn’t have much growing up, but I took full advantage of whatever was handed down to me. Plus when you appreciate the little things in life, that is when you are living my friend.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
One thing I learned about my art is finding your own style. It’s ok to copy someone else’s work and learn from them, but you need to find yours at the end of the day. Because when you create, you want it to be yours, your touch, your feel, be different. I used to put a bunch of effects on my videos but that wasn’t me and wasn’t my style. And in the long run, you’ll get bored and not have any more if you don’t have your own story/style.
When people look at my work, I want them to feel like they can do it too, which is to live life. That’s how my career started doing it, saying yes to opportunities cause it got me to where I am now.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely show them Red Rocks. I don’t know what it is, but the energy, the people, and the music change you for the better. I’m an introvert and when I went to my first show, it helped me grow out of my shell. Now I go to shows by myself cause I have built that confidence but really, I realized no one really gives a fuck. You’ll never see these people again, might as well have fun with it,
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would say the Alchemist. Ever since I read the book, I try to live my life like the Alchemist. I didn’t see it at first, but as years passed by I learned that I myself can be that character, be that person. Now, when I go about my day, I look at life differently. I try to pay attention to details, live life to the fullest, and just take advantage of the day because tomorrow is never promised.
