Meet Nohemy Montes | Small Business Owner, women and minority owned & Senior Wealth Manager

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nohemy Montes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nohemy, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Success, has a different meaning to each one of us. To me, success is to enjoy my family. I have 2 teen age daughters, 9 brothers and sisters and my mother. I can’t justify saying that I dont have time to see my extended family because of work. Guiding my daughters through life, being with them in their important moments, hopefully teaching them to be assertive, forward thinkers, how to stand for what they believe, physically and mentally strong, and find their happiness within themselves. So, Work Life Balance is the most important factor to my success. I share this concepts with my clients all the time. Their loyalty is not because of my degrees, experience and preparation, it is because of my values and beliefs. No one wants to wait until they are retire to enjoy what I have always enjoyed. I help them enjoy it from now on. Yes work life balance has been a key to my success in this career as a wealth planner and manager and my prior career as an attorney

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have been a wealth manager for 19 years, In 2013 I founded Mont Wealth, a financial consulting & wealth planning firm. I have a very qualified and well trained team. We build financial strategies for our client’s financial freedom with actionable implementation steps. We include tax management, estate planning, and tax managed wealth planning. We take the time to understand our clients goals and help them brainstorm about their dream life. We help incorporate work life balance to the strategy and help them begin to enjoy those desired things they want when their retire, for example, some of our clients say they want a new house or to travel when they retire. Often we make those things possible before their desire age to retire. If I had to find what differentiates me the most from other wealth managers, is that prior to this, I practice law and I have an ability and expertise in strategizing. Also, I am a collaborator with other professionals. I always work with Estate Planner Attorneys, CPA’s, Realtors, Property and Casualty Agents, and any other professionals need to help my client succeed. I am transparent and authentic, I am not a good fit for everyone only those that are eager to become financially independent while enjoying life. I have built great processes. I love learning. I believe in continuing education and passing on the knowledge to the next generations.
These are my best differentiators: I am a happy person because I implement work life balance in my daily life, I have passion for the work that I do, I have phenomenal systems and processes, a well trained team, I posses expertise and ability to strategize, I collaborate with other professionals, and I am fantastic delegator.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Assuming this is Spring/Summer, I will start with a morning green smoothie, a jog through the well planned trails anywhere in Colorado Springs. Places that must visit: Manitou Springs, read by the river and grab an ice cream cone. The incline, take pictures and write on your diary your experience of being above the clouds. A hike to Pikes Peak, bring a bottle of Pinot Noir and enjoy the smelling of the mountains while catching up with our lives. Drive up to eleven mile lake to go kayaking. The conservatory to listen to an amazing concert. The City Auditorium for an art Friday evening. A tour to UCCS. A tour to the Olympic training center. Attend an event to one of the Chamber of Commerce with me. Places to eat: Margarita Pine Creek, The Broadmoor, The flying horse steak house,

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are many people I would need to recognize! If I thing about only the last 10 years, in the process of my divorce I moved to Colorado Springs, moved my two daughters ages 4 and 8 at the time, and moved my business too. My brother David Montes, who worked in the business with me, run my business in its entirely while I recovered emotionally and financially. Without knowing hardly anyone in the City, my sister Victoria Gheorghe, navigated the ropes of networking on my behalf. I would have to thank my daughters, who grew up in my offices with me and never complained. Organizations: Southern Colorado Women Chamber of Commerce and the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce.
Books: What men don’t tell women about business, Who not How, The gap and the gain, The 7 habits of highly effective people, Good to great, and many others.
