We had the good fortune of connecting with Noor Bahjat and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Noor, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
that I’m not afraid to try something new and I accept f failing and keep trying untile i get what i want
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Throughout my education in Syria I was encouraged to focus on the form of painting, to base my practice on the European masters of Modern art, and develop a personal style that followed to compositional guidelines of painting I graduated in 2014 with an awareness of my skill set but I wanted o to push my self to experiment more and after being accepted as part of Ayyam Gallery’s residency program, I began to expand my understanding of contemporary middle eastern and Iranian art and the importance is medium and concept On the other hand, doing an art residency at Gallery Stephanie in Manila and going to the Philippines opened my eyes to see the world from a new perspective and I become aware of Asian and Filipino art sense which added a lot to my knowledge and influenced my work a lot
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
hg I would choose the beach and mountain for me exploring nature is the most enjoyable activity I would also go for an extreme activity like sky diving or zip lining anything to boost the adrenaline
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
vi’ would like to give credit to gallery Ayyam who believed in my artistic vision and supported me, from providing a workspace to showcasing my work and introducing me to others
