We had the good fortune of connecting with OJ “Juice” Carrizales and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi OJ “Juice”, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m from Aurora, Colorado also famously known as the “ACO”. My background and upbringing impacted who I am heavily today. My mom had me at 17 years old and it’s never easy being a child while also raising a child. But I always seen her make it happen. My pops was a hustler and listening to the music he listened to and seeing the cars, clothes, and jewelry made me want all that too. My story gets super deep but I’ll save that for another time. But both of those mixed together while growing up in Aurora and seeing the things I’ve seen really gave me that hustler spirit to go and get my by any means, no matter who or what is standing in my way.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I feel like what sets me apart from others is my mindset. I don’t jump on new trends or ride the wave just because people think it’s popular. I like to create my own style even if it’s not trending. I just do me and stay in my lane and I feel like that’s hard for a lot of people to do because of trying to keep up with trends and people on social media. I can say I’m proud of that alone because we live in a monkey see, monkey do, world. I got to where I am today by just continuing to stay dedicated and focused throughout this whole process. I would be lying if I said it was easy. This type of stuff isn’t for the weak. You lose money, sleep, friends, and maybe even yourself sometimes. But thats that beauty of the process because if you stay down and dedicated long enough eventually your hard work will pay off. But if you give up in the middle of it then you gain nothing and still will have lost everything. The way I overcame challenges was blocking the negative things out, stopped focusing on others wins, paths, and journeys and started only focusing on mine. I was constantly looking for more information to help better my situation. Its different strokes for different folks but those are some of the ways I overcame challenges I’ve faced. I’ve learned a lot of lessons along the way and I’m still learning lessons but here are some important ones. Focus on your own journey/path and progression. Block out all negative forces. Never give up even when the going gets rough, theres always light at the end of the tunnel. I want the world to know my brand is all about inclusion and diversity. Our motto is “Dapper Money, The #1 Streetwear Brand For Hustlers, Creators, and Innovators”. We can all be all three of those things in our own way. Anybody can be Dapper Money and wear Dapper Money as long as they move with good energy and positive intentions.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First I would take them to the Aurora Mall. I would take them by some places I grew up in Aurora and show them what it was like. I would take them to SoSo’s on Havana and show them the mini mart or the bodega is what it would be called in NY. Then I would take them and drive down Colfax at night starting from Sable all the way down to the Capitol to see the lights and everything. I would then take them to any pop ups, fashion shows, art shows, etc that we have going on because its a good way to network and get your work out there.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to all my family members, friends, and anyone who supports what I got going on. Without them none of this would be possible. They give me motivation to keep growing, going, and to never give up. If I made a list of all the people that I wanted to dedicate this to the list would go on for days. I got so many memories and stories I could write a book. I love all yall though!
