We had the good fortune of connecting with Orin Abrams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Orin, what do you attribute your success to?

It took me some time to develop the most important factor behind my success, and as I became more aware of that factor, I became more intentional about consciously allowing and focusing on it. I’ve come to learn that it all begins and ends with INTEGRITY. I was a different person at age 23, than I was at 33, 43, 53 & now, well let’s just say ‘over 60’. Gradually and over time, I became more and more aware of how important core values, and who I am as a person, guides my ‘success’ in all areas of my life, vocation included.

One way to explain this relates to an important and vital portion of my interview process with prospective clients, to determine if our relationship would be a ‘good fit’. While the nuts, bolts, numbers, market, tools, logistics, and profit potential are all important areas of focus, I also try to get a feel for how important things like the following are to any perspective client:

What makes them (or would make them) proud?
What sets them (or could set them) apart from their competition?
What inspires (or could inspire) them?
What example do they (want to) set?
How do (would they like) their employees (to) view them?

Learning some of this is part of a process which helps me, and my clients, more clearly identify what their intentions are, beyond though not separate from what may seem like the obvious, profitability. The importance of clarifying intentions around what success looks like for my clients, is crucial, as without a clear and well-defined target, it’s challenging to ‘hit the mark’.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I really didn’t come up with the idea of consulting, although I was attracted to aspects of it, and then, it ‘found me’. As I wound down my career in ‘doing’ within the food & beverage hospitality industry, I recall telling my wife, something like, “You know, I have a wealth of experience, I could bring great value to others, and I think that I would really enjoy sharing my gifts, but I really don’t relish the prospect of trying to attract business, of convincing others of the value I could bring them”. Well, as it has turned out, I’m getting exactly what I envisioned, clients are coming to me, and I have been very fortunate to be in a position to choose inspiring opportunities from among them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
City hop, check out a comedy at the improv, visit the garden of the gods and take a tour through Denver. Maybe find ourselves lost at a local distillery.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many deserving of recognition, but the one that stands out most in this moment is my late father, Jack Abrams. When I think about ‘efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement’, my dad most certainly checked all the boxes. But more than that, my dad set an example of integrity in all he thought, said, and did. Early on, I didn’t realize how profoundly important, and what a guiding north star quality integrity would come to be for me. Today, integrity drives all I do in every part of my life, and that most certainly has been the case throughout my business career.
