We had the good fortune of connecting with Paige Schmidt – S.C.U.L.P.T. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paige, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have been in the fitness industry for almost a decade. I have worked in many different settings including wellness centers, corporate gyms, privately owned gyms, you name it. It was great in the beginning of my career because I was able to gain a ton of experience from working with individuals who had various goals and limitations. I was also able to gain a wealth of knowledge from other great trainers who were kind enough to take the time and educate me further. With that being said, I quickly realized that while working in these types of gyms I was hustling every day to get in front of new faces and gain new clients. I figured, if I am going to hustle, I might as well do it for MYSELF and MY business! I knew that I had the passion, grit, knowledge, and drive to start my own business , it was just a matter of the right timing. And then I quickly realized that there is NO right timing, I just have to go for it and have faith. And I am so glad that I did because it has not only allowed me to learn so much about myself , but has also taught me how to become a better business woman.

What should our readers know about your business?
I specialize in helping individuals with weight loss, muscle build, and optimizing body composition. I am passionate about teaching each individual that I have the privilege to work with that there are no quick fixes in your health. It is a process. It is a journey. It is a complete lifestyle change. I make sure to set them up with the appropriate tools that will set them up for success in their fitness journey. I also acknowledge the fact that my clients will most likely not be working with me for the rest of their lives ( sad I know!). So I do my best to educate them so that when our time together comes to an end, they feel confident to take what they learned and maintain their routine and progress. I think that one of the main things that I love and want to speak about on what I do is the connections that I make with my clients. It’s kind of funny to think about, but on average , I see my clients at least twice per week. So we see each other more than we see most family and friends. And so although the relationship stays professional, we really become invested in each other’s lives and care about what each other has going on.
It is also a priority of mine to make each client feel comfortable and safe while working with me because I understand that it can be a vulnerable setting for some and out of their comfort zone to ask for help with changing their body.
I am just extremely appreciative of all who put their trust in me and ask me to help them on their journey!

When it comes to running my own business, there definitely can be months where everything is going absolutely amazing, then there can be months where I feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day! I wear many hats other than being a personal trainer. On top of programming for and training clients and staying up on education to make sure I am the best trainer that I can be.
I also do everything else that makes any business run successfully, like marketing, advertising, networking, accounting, you name it. But I wouldn’t necessarily say any of it has been a struggle, just learning curves. I am grateful to be in the position that I am in, where I can say that I have been running a SUCCESSFUL business for the last three years. And the fact that I am doing it for myself makes it even more rewarding and worth it!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is honestly a tough question because I am not from this area so I still have a lot of exploring to do. BUT based on what I have seen and done during my time here, I would definitely take my best friend to Mount Princeton Hot Springs for a night. It is by far one of my favorite things that I have done here. I would also take them on a hike to Saint Mary’s Glacier because it’s not too far of a drive from where I live and is stunning. As far as food goes, I am a HUGE foodie and am still trying to find my go to spots here in Denver but Mac Nation and Jing are two places that are yummy and have been consistent for me. And then of course Wash Park, which is absolutely gorgeous and very lively. Also, the places on this itinerary are not all in close proximity of each other so we would be doing quite a bit of driving lol

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am so thankful to have a handful of people in my corner who are constantly supporting me and proud of me! I’d love to shout out the following….
My parents and siblings: Thank you for being there through every phase in my life and for WANTING to help me with anything and everything, always. Even with us living miles apart, whether it is sending me a supportive text, sending me things in the mail or flying out here to help me with an event that I am doing, your support is constant and it means so much! I am so thankful to have a family that wants to be involved and that wants to see me and my business win! Your excitement in my business makes me excited to do more and more!
Charod, my best friend: Thank you for ALWAYS pushing me to be my best, in all aspects of life. When I told you that I wanted to go out on my own and start my own business, even though I was nervous and excited at the same time, your confidence and faith in me was unwavering. Your leadership and encouragement has pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me grow in ways that I didn’t even know I had in me. Thank you for your CONSTANT support, wisdom, and guidance. And thank you for always cheering me on, regardless!
And I of course have to thank my clients: Thank you for choosing ME to educate, push, and guide you on your fitness journeys. Without you, my business would not be where it is at today. From referring friends to me to sharing my stuff on social media to leaving me a review, to continuing to work with me. Every single LITTLE thing you do, is a BIG thing to me and my small business. I work my butt off to be the best leader and coach to you all day in and day out. Your loyalty and support means so much and I am so grateful for each of you.
