Meet Paola Torres | Denver Home Stager and Home Organizer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Paola Torres and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Paola, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have always loved helping people and beautifying spaces. In my previous career, I was a Victim Advocate for seven years. I worked in Court systems, Police systems and most recently in a Child Advocacy Center. I helped people through the most difficult time of their life. Having seen tragedy day in and day out, I decided what I would like to do with the rest of my life. I started thinking about how much I love interior decorating.
Then I heard about home staging through HGTV- yes one of those AHA moments! I became inspired to pursue a home staging business. I began business classes through Mi Casa Resource Center, registered my business and then put all my blood, sweat and tears in my business.

What should our readers know about your business?
My company’s name is Happy Ambience Home Staging. I provide home staging services to homes that are about to hit the market- I serve Realtors, Investors and Home Owners. What sets me apart from other companies, is that I can serve customers in different ways through home organizing and home styling. I am also Bilingual- Spanish to English, so I can serve twice as many people. Spanish speaking communities are not as familiar with home staging so my goal is to raise awareness of how this service can impact the sale of their home and to be the trusted go-to person.
I have learned many lessons along the way. My biggest lessons have been persistence, talking about my dream a lot, envisioning where I would be at this point and most importantly, by stepping out of my comfort zone. Sometimes people are the ones that stop their dreams out of fear of failure. I think that is a big mistake. I have failed in many ways, but I have reframed my way of thinking by being curious about how I can better myself. I want the world to know that in a few years, I will have a warehouse and supply jobs in our community. I am a visionary so when I think about my future, I picture myself providing my siblings with jobs (if they want to of course)- my little sister Diana helping me design homes and my brother Ethan being the company truck driver. Eventually leaving the business to be ran by Son (and future children). I want to create generational wealth and represent Latinas in the staging community.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Colorado is dear and near my heart. I love that there are plenty of things to do for any type of adventurer. From hiking to museums to extreme sports, Denver has something for everyone. I recommend the Boulder area for short hikes within the city. My favorite one in Boulder is the Chautauqua Trail. So many beautiful views to take in. After that, I recommend brunch at the Snooze restaurant in Boulder, CO. If you go on a Saturday, you can catch the Farmers market and indulge in many treats. Other highlights of visiting Boulder are- Boulder falls, Pearl Street Mall, The Boulder Planetarium, ElDorado Springs and the famous Boulder Creek which runs along the city. If you are feeling even more adventurous and have extra time, I recommend driving 30-45 mins extra towards Nederland, CO or to Rocky Mountain National park.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It is extremely difficult to name one single person that has impacted me through this journey.
Primarily, my shout out is to my husband Jesus Torres. He is my biggest supporter and encourages me to never give up. Without his support, this dream would not be possible. From helping me stage homes, to holding down the fort at home when I have a long day, he does so much for our family. I can’t imagine a better partner in life.
Secondly, Mi Casa Resource Center- they have been instrumental to my success as a small business owner. When I started this Entrepreneur journey, I had no idea where to start and they led me in the right direction. I have taken their business classes and have taken advantage of the business consulting as well. They have provided continuous support and resources that have created successful results for my business. Seriously I recommend them to any person seeking business support.
Thirdly, my parents. They immigrated to the US when we were young to provide for a better future. They are also both Entrepreneurs- my Ama owns a successful cleaning company, and my Papa is a dedicated handyman. I admire their everyday efforts- being a business owner has helped me relate to my parents on a deeper level. The list could go on forever because so many people have pushed me to commit and excel- my sisters, my home staging colleagues, my son who continues to inspire me to be the best version of myself. Thank you to everyone that has made this dream possible.
