Hi Paris, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business began after 20 successful years as a top Weight Watchers coach. I loved my job, but as the company started heading in a different direction, I realized it was time for me to pursue a vision that truly resonated with my beliefs. I founded Always On Your Side Coaching because I believe there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to health. That’s why I created the Power of 13—thirteen essential elements that I believe are key to living a healthy lifestyle. This isn’t just about diet and exercise; it’s about mindset and lifestyle, too. The Power of 13 works with any diet or can stand alone. In 2023, I published my book, Always On Your Side: Power of 13 – Your Common Sense Guide to Health and Wellness, to share these principles with a broader audience. I emphasize that just because one method doesn’t work doesn’t mean you’ve failed; it means we need to find what does work and make it easier for you to succeed.

Starting my own business, Always On Your Side Coaching, was a journey fueled by passion and a deep belief that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to health and wellness. After 20 years as a top coach with Weight Watchers, I found myself at a crossroads when the company began heading in a different direction. I loved my job until I didn’t, and that’s when I knew it was time to step out on my own.

I founded Always On Your Side Coaching because I believe that everyone is unique and deserves a personalized approach to health. That’s why I created the Power of 13—a guide of thirteen essential elements that I believe are key to living a healthy lifestyle. It’s not just about diet and exercise; it’s about mindset, lifestyle, and finding what works best for you. The Power of 13 can complement any diet or stand alone, making it versatile and adaptable to individual needs.

One of the things that sets my coaching apart is my no-nonsense approach. I’m all about helping people shed excuses and get clear on their goals. I believe that just because one method doesn’t work for you doesn’t mean you’ve failed; it simply means we need to find what does work and make it easier for you to succeed. My coaching is rooted in balanced nutrition, portion control, and a focus on reducing sugar and saturated fats, but it’s also about creating a healthy mindset and lifestyle.

I am also a constant learner, always keeping up with the latest diets, exercise trends, and new modalities to ensure I can offer my clients the best possible guidance. This commitment to lifelong learning allows me to adapt and grow, helping my clients do the same.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned along the way is that it’s okay to ask for help. We all have our strengths, but sometimes we need guidance to overcome obstacles and realize our potential. That’s what I strive to offer my clients—whether they need help with weight loss, stress management, or creating a more balanced life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love this question! As a native of Colorado, there are several must-do activities we never miss when hosting visitors. We always make a trip to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, explore Woodland Park, and visit Cripple Creek to see the donkeys. Downtown Littleton is perfect for strolling, shopping, and enjoying the breweries. We also love relaxing at 5 Wellbeing Spa and Woodhouse Spa. For a little getaway, we head to Blackhawk for a night or two, and Monarch is a must for dinner at the Chophouse. Some of our favorite local restaurants include Perry’s Steakhouse, Cranelli’s Italian Restaurant, and White Chocolate Grill in Highlands Ranch. Of course, we always visit the Denver Zoo and the Aquarium, and we never miss a trip to the Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg. Red Rocks is a must see. Even better a concert if available.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Oh my, I had so many people helping and cheering me on as I started Always On Your Side. My husband has been one of my biggest supporters; he often sees my abilities more clearly than I do. My parents constantly lifted me up, reminding me that I can do anything I set my mind to. Weight Watchers provided me with the experience and education to become the best coach I could be, challenging me and helping me discover my talents. My clients and staff encouraged me to branch out on my own and stood by me as we launched our support groups and one-on-one coaching.
