We had the good fortune of connecting with Patrick DiMarco and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Patrick, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always been an extremely independent person so it just made sense! I’d rather work 80 hrs a week for myself than 40 for someone else!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
After purchasing my first digital camera I fell in love with Architectural photography. I love wide angle lenses, finding unique lines in structures, and using symmetry to my aesthetic advantage. While I have easily photographed over 2k real estate properties working with “big” name companies, venturing on my own and getting started is a challenge of its own. I’ve learned the hard way that you can’t take the easy way out when it comes to running your business (especially advertising)! One of my piano teachers once told me, “if you do something you’re passionate about and you truly believe in it, the money will come and you will be happier overall.” Unlike many other photographers in my field I don’t try to just get the job done. I carefully plan everything to have a great photograph in general, and clients will ultimately be happy and understand what I bring to the table.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Hiking in the mountains is an obvious to do during the day time! There are numerous trails close to the city that provide views like no other. You may have mountains in your city/state but the Rocky Mountains are just different. If you’re brave enough, downtown is the best place to experience a thriving city! Seeing a show at the Denver Center of Performing Arts or a game at one of our 3 stadiums will get you downtown and the many bars and restaurants will keep you there! 16th Street Mall is also a must see and is sort of our “Times Square” here in Denver!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family is the greatest support system in the world!
