We had the good fortune of connecting with Paul Vance and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Paul, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My work life balance has been a challenge! Being a business owner, Trainer, Coach and focusing on my on fitness can be a lot. however, I embrass the non stop lifestyle. I really focus on setting up my weekly plan and sticking to what is on my planner. I do not like having open time in my planner. Once my day starts I want to make sure I utilize every minute of the day!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been personal training for 10 years, I truly believe in doing the work yourself! I would never put someone through a workout I have not done myself! I think this sets me apart from a lot of health professionals. I mix in work that I did while running college track, to weight lifting, HIIT and much more. I’m very passionate about everything that I do. It took time and dedication to get where am at today. I try my best to not waste a minute of any day. I want to make sure that I’m always taking advantage of my time!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spots to go in the Denver area any outdoor activity! Not that I do not like to sit down and have a nice pint here and there or a great meal. However, you can’t find this type of natural beauty anywhere else in my opionin. I could spend months trying new trails or new sights and it would never get old to me!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have been very lucky to have some amazing mentors in my life. One stands out above all! My high school track coach Paul Yowchuang. He really installed a confidence in me that I can’t explain. He believed in me from day one and I have not forgotten that. The dedication it takes to run track at a high level is something that most people will never understand. The adversity that I dealt with while running has led me to becoming a succesfull businessman. The Sport and Yowchuang really helped me understand that anything is possible if you believe in yourself.
