We had the good fortune of connecting with Pearl Guyer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Pearl, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My work life balance has changed so much. I used to work two jobs, take call in the operating room for weeks at a time, go to school, and do all the after school activities. I was always on the go and never had time for myself, to just sit back and relax. I needed a change. I decided to move to Colorado to be closer to my sisters. Fast forward 6 years, I am now an empty nester, but I was still working crazy hours. I discovered a hiking group that had changed my outlook. I realized I needed to stop. That my workplace didn’t need me as much as I needed myself. I decided to switch to a place that had better hours and allowed me to have the time I needed to be free. I love my work life balance now.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Currently I work as an Operating Room Nurse.. It took 10yrs to get where I am today. I was divorced and raised two young kids during that time and it was not easy. luckily my parents were able to help me through it all and my current husband. I had a goal that I needed to finish. I learned overtime, that you can’t do everything by yourself and it’s ok to ask for help. I would love for people to know that they can do it. Yes there are people that want to see you fail, to not succeed, please Don’t get discouraged. Through my photography and videos I hope to make people happy by recreating that feeling when they see it again.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my friend to Vail in the summer, during the jazz fest. Then the next day we would go to the hot springs. I would also take them to my favorite Mexican restaurant, Rancho Margarita and then have drinks at the Beer Garden.
Other cool places to check out or do is the Manitou Incline, Sand Dunes and Boulder.
