Meet Brittany Leigh Ference | Lead Creative of Song Dog Media + Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Leigh Ference and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittany Leigh, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“You have the right to remain wild.”
A steady reminder to myself to continue to build a lifestyle that re-employs slow living, simplicity and connection to nature. A life that lives with the seasons, grows gardens and tends to animals. One that takes time to be in the backcountry on horseback, fishing, hunting and foraging. A reminder to build a life that teaches my daughter how to also know the language of the fauna and flora around us and be good stewards.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I grew up farming and ranching, then received a Bachelor’s of Fine Art with a focus in photography and creative writing, then went right back to farming and ranching. Song Dog Media has allowed me to find my niche market and merge my creative talents with my passion for land, water and wildlife conservation. I have successfully created a company that empowers and connects rural business to the digital world. I am intimately connected to rural places, so hiring my company to support you allows us to be able to relate to you on a small town level, while still having the knowledge base to connect your business in the most progressive ways. I am endlessly inspired by my client’s brands. I thoroughly enjoy visually engaging their audiences and telling their story. Photography and videography is one of my favorite branches of the company… every time I get to be out in field capturing the client’s “day in the life” it brings my heart joy.
This company is a supporting my path to continue learning new skills to better serve my rural communities. I am currently taking a grant writing course that will upgrade my technical writing skills for the nonprofits I support. I also am becoming a drone pilot to add an additional dimension to my videography.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In Pagosa Springs, Colorado I would take them to the hot springs, hiking on the Piedra River trail or another trail that is more rugged depending on the vibe, to Root House, then on a river walk or tubing down the river, to Meander for dinner. I would most likely take them up to William’s Reservoir for a cruise and views, maybe to paddle board or swim while we are up there. If it was foraging season they best believe they will be in the forest with me!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shout out and a hug to the Michelle Sander-Ferracane of Great Escape Mustang Collaborative for being a vision holder for me to launch my company. I had previously supported with media management and programs for the collaborative in year’s past, but I moved to a different part of the country and I took on a different position. Year’s later she approached me wondering if I would consider supporting the collaborative again with my talents, which lead to me becoming brave enough to launch my company.
