We had the good fortune of connecting with Peter Doyle and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Peter, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
I enjoy learning about organizations that have lasted for hundreds of years. I’d like to help create a company that can stand the test of time. To me, this is a function of holding fast to principles as well as adapting to evolving needs in the marketplace.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am most excited about our culture based on our Core Value and continuous improvement. At Hirsh, we strive to be people centric. We know all great achievements are the result of teamwork, rather than the work of an individual. I want our company to take care of each other so we can take care of our customers. I have seen a few manufacturing companies where the workforce wasn’t engaged and I’ve seen too many OEMs neglect to understand how a supplier’s culture can impact their success. When a supplier has a positive and engaged workforce, it really makes a difference! Processes are more stable, continuous improvement can happen and OEMs can focus on new innovations and new products for their own end customer rather than worry about their supply chain.
In addition to our culture, each day our team’s knowledge and skillset grows. We’re investing in automation, building proprietary systems and improving our ability to support growth by incorporating new capabilities like electro-mechanical assembly and metal finishing. Over the last few years, we’ve been able to add value for customers in new ways as a contract manufacturer. This process is gaining momentum as we expand into our new facility.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a friend were to visit, I’d consider stopping by snooze for breakfast to catch up. I’d head to the mountains to play – maybe do Kelso Ridge, then head to Leadville to camp and take photos of the Milky Way at Turquoise Lake. I’d head to Steamboat or CB for skiing and biking… meander back to the front range via the Surf Hotel in Buena Vista if I could. We might sail on a lake, fly fish or scamper up a flatiron in Boulder… I’d spend almost all my time outdoors!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have been very fortunate to have been mentored throughout my career and supported by my family and colleagues. I am extremely grateful for the opportunities I have had and for the team at Hirsh Precision. I could not ask for a better group of people – we do our best each day & every day and I am honored and excited by the chance to work together!
