Meet Phil Daughton | Owner of Prenvalley Builders

We had the good fortune of connecting with Phil Daughton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Phil, what is the most important factor behind your success?
One of the most valuable things I’ve learned in my time in construction is that clients prefer to have a sole contact, someone that can coordinate with all the different parties throughout the design and build process which alleviates a lot of stress for them. Taking a full design-build approach to residential construction allows us to better serve our clients. Our designers are the builders and we’re able to keep the design plans aligned with the client’s vision and budget.

What should our readers know about your business?

Q: We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about.

A: We’re a residential design-build firm which means we take every project from concept to creation. Not only does this create efficiencies in the process but also a sense of ownership and dedication to our craft.

Q: How did you get to where you are today business-wise. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way.

A: It wasn’t easy getting to where I am today – there have been more business mistakes than I can count. But I’ve turned each mistake into a lesson and have honed in on my ability to create a sustainable business. One of the biggest lessons I’m still learning is to know your value and not undersell your craft.

Q: What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?

A: We’re a hard-working, passionate team who always put customer satisfaction first. Construction is never perfect and things can go awry, but we always go above and beyond to make sure our clients are happy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a music lover – first on the list when friend’s are visiting is going to Red Rocks to catch a show. I also live pretty close to the newly-opened Meow Wolf, which is an interactive art exhibit right next to Empower Stadium. We’d go there and probably spend hours trying to solve the puzzles and enjoying all of the exhibits. Another great Denver staple is the Nature and Science Museum, we could easily spend an afternoon there and cap it off with the amazing view of the Denver skyline and Rocky Mountains from the 4th floor viewing deck. As for food and drinks, I’d introduce them to Watercourse and City’O’City for dinner and cocktails, and then dessert we’d have to get oatmeal creme pies from Make Believe Bakery next door.

A visit to Colorado wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the mountains – and since we have the time I’d have to show them Telluride. Preferably this trip would coincide with the Bluegrass Festival, one of the most magical events in Colorado.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to a couple of people, starting with my team. They’ve helped grow this small company quickly and are vital to its continued success. It’s not easy finding hard-working, passionate people to work side by side with, but we’ve really assembled a great group who have become like family.

I’d also like to dedicate this to my Mom and siblings – they’ve always been supportive of my wild endeavors and have encouraged me to take big leaps to get where I am today. They continue to support me as I navigate this business and are always there to talk things through.
