Meet Rachel Graham | Walk-Around Entertainment

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Graham and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rachel, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
It all began with a favor for a friend. A local non-profit, There With Care, was hosting a fundraiser and they wanted a dress, worn by a live model to serve drinks as part of the entertainment. I had worked for them previously as walk-around entertainment and when they mentioned to me they didn’t have the budget to hire a large entertainment company, my husband Robert and I stepped in. Together, we built the very first Drink Dress! The first prototype was a metal dress we built by hand in the weeks before the event.
Everyone LOVED the dress and this event made us realize there was a need for a more thoughtful, personal, high-quality, champagne dress in Colorado. I’ve been in walk-around entertainment for over 20 years, and felt comfortable starting a small entertainment company to raise the bar in this small corner of the market! A few years later, we built a new version of the Drink Dress, the one we use today, made from metal and walnut wood. I designed it, and Robert brought it to life. It has some design improvements upon the original design, and never fails to wow the client and guests.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What I love most about this particular business is the chance to customize every look to match the client’s unique vision. I’ve curated a huge collection of corsets, skirts, and accessories over the years, and pulling pieces together to create something special for each event is pure joy. Whether it’s a roaring 1920s soirée or a moody, elegant affair, I get to dive into my costume bins to create something unique for them.
The 1920s theme is especially popular right now, so I’ve built up a wide range of flapper-inspired accessories in multiple colors to suit any palette. But I’ve also had a blast creating completely different looks, like an over-the-top Red Queen or sleek gold-and-black ensemble.
When guests arrive at an event, they’re never expecting to be greeted by someone standing in a massive dress holding 80 glasses of champagne. The look of surprise and delight on their faces is priceless. In an instant, the energy shifts; they light up, start laughing, and you can see them step right into the mindset of, “Okay, this is going to be fun.”
It sets the tone immediately. That first impression isn’t just entertainment, it’s an invitation enjoy the moment.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Honestly, my husband and I are total homebodies. We run multiple small businesses, so when we’re not working, we’re recharging at home. That said, thanks to my other business, RDGPhotography, I’ve always got my finger on the pulse of Colorado’s live theatre scene. So while I might not be your go-to for the best rooftop bars or brunch spots, I can absolutely build a perfect week around unforgettable performances.
And of course, I’d make sure we grabbed some great local eats before each show, keeping an eye out for awesome Gluten Free and Vegan spots around like Waive the Grain in Centennial or Fellow Traveler in Englewood.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without a doubt, my husband Robert. He’s been an incredible partner in every sense of the word. When I came to him with the idea for the Drink Dress, he didn’t hesitate he helped build the original metal prototype with me with the crazy time crunch we had. Then later constructed the stunning metal-and-walnut version we use today. It’s elegant, durable, and brilliantly functional. It fits in the back of our vehicle, holds nearly every type of glass, and always turns heads.
But beyond the craftsmanship, it’s the way he supports me that truly deserves recognition. He took my design feedback seriously and created something that not only works, but elevates the entire experience. At events, I’m usually the model in the dress, and Robert is right there beside me loading drinks, keeping everything in place, and quietly making sure I’m okay. Whether I need water, a break, or just a moment to reset, he’s already one step ahead.
Robert is naturally shy, but he’s stepped out of his comfort zone to be part of this business with me. Watching him grow into that role has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey. I couldn’t do it without him.
