We had the good fortune of connecting with Scott Hachey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Scott, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
The end goal for me in my creative pursuits is to have a listening audience for my art. If I can make a living financially as well, that is the dream realized. If I can make it my entire adult life and still be creating music for people that are active listeners and fans, that would be incredible. Sustainability and long term feasibility are the hardest parts of the art industry. Easier to have a big burst of success than to maintain it 20+ years. I’d rather maintain a long career with devoted fans than a short term career that pays enough. I’m really interested in having my music be heard above all else
.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My band, Magic Beans, has been a labor of love for over a decade now. It only became financially feasible and a successful endeavor recently after many years of hard work. This band has endured many hardships through out our time as a nationally touring act, almost every pitfall a band can experience. Van break downs, member departures, theft, loss of money are all part of our story. However, there is so much triumph too. We’ve played Red Rocks, Mission Ballroom, Capitol Theater. Held our own festival every summer for 11 years. Created from scratch two Drive-IN music weekend events during covid that both sold out. Toured for 5+years nationally racking up over 1000 shows. Most importantly we have developed a dedicated and amazing fanbase that has supported us all along the way. Its more of a community than anything, and we’re so lucky to have that. Its not an over night process, and you’ll want to quit 100 times, but perseverance can get you where you want to go. Invest in your business and yourself.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d take them to some of our amazing venues like Mission Ballroom and Red Rocks. Down to RiNo district to grab some amazing food from Dio Mio, Park Burger, & Hop Alley.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shout out Z2 productions with Fox Theater and Boulder Theater as well as the Cervantes team in Denver for giving us our first gigs and helping nurture our band for this long decade plus.
