We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Kling and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rachel, how do you think about risk?
I have never been a huge risk taker when it comes to my work life. My parents always encouraged me to get a job with benefits and a good retirement plan. I take a HUGE risk when I left my 9-5 job working at a real estate brokerage to joining a new brokerage and going right to selling full time. There was a very special person who enlightened me to risk taking in my career and she is the reason I made the jump without a lot of preparation. Taking this risk has been the best thing for me and my life. I feel free and get the benefits of living the life I want to live while working at a job I truly enjoy.
What should our readers know about your business?
My business of real estate is just getting started. I help first time homebuyers in Denver escape the rental market and start earning equity. Buying a home is a very intimidating and expensive purchase and if you are not guided with the right information it can become an unpleasant experience. Many first time homebuyers do not understand the market ad fear they do not have enough money to get into it. My goal is to educate those people on how and more importantly WHY they should get into the market sooner rather than later. I understand how Real Estate can be a great source of wealth later down the line and want to help whoever I can achieve that wealth. My business truly puts the client first by educating them on buying a home and why it’s a good investment. I go through everything at their pace and listen to their wants and needs. It is not easy to build a real estate business these days as there are a lot of agents out there and most people know 4-5 agents already. It’s important that I stand out and prove I am the better agent out there. Marketing has been a big challenge but I have learned to use instagram reels and tik toks to help grow my following. Relating to people my age about why they should invest and get into the market is my main focus. I pay attention to people’s hesitations and questions and try to ease their confusion and help them understand what they question. I believe my degree in Sociology is helpful in understanding people and how and why the react. I can use those skills to guide people properly based on their personalities in the right direction. Every person is different and every deal is different and I approach each one with the same attention and passion.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a friend coming into town here is what our itinerary would be. I would take them to dinner at Postino in LoHi and get a bottle of time and a brushetta board to start and then we’d head to Little Man for ice cream afterwards. I would also take them to a Rookies game because there is no other field with a mountain view like Coors Field. We would probably go to Blue Moon or RiNO Beer Garden or both before the game and walk around RiNo too. After the game we would hit Great Divide. The next day would be spent in Golden/Morrison. We would start with breakfast burritos at Santiagos. Then we would go to Red Rocks and maybe a do a hike behind the rocks. We would walk along the creek in downtown Golden after and grab Lunch at Golden Mills. They have a beer wall so we would also grab drinks there. We would end at New Terrain brewery with some live music hopefully.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have two shout-outs. The first one goes to Erin Bradley who encouraged me to make the jump from my 9-5 to full on selling real estate. She introduced me to the brokerage I am at and team I joined. She has been such an important person who has been on my side cheering me on the whole way. She is a true inspiration and I would not have taken such a big but exciting risk without her and her podcast Pursuing Freedom. Her motto is the live a life you don’t need a vacation from.
My second shout-out is my team The Arrow Group. In the world of Real Estate it can be a very individual competitive sport but the Arrow Group has shown me the power of a team. Each member from the Leader Mic to my mentor Lora have been so helpful and eager to teach me through every step. As a team we collaborate and want the best for each other. I could not ask for a better team to be a part of.
